Campus Cutie: Jacqueline Craig

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wilfrid Laurier chapter.

Meet Jacqueline, a passionate and inspiring second year Global Studies student. Along with being a Residence Life Don and dance instructor at the Athletic Complex, she also has the best sense of humour and such a big heart. After only spending a little time with her, we now see why she is adored by so many!

What do you love most about Laurier?

Definitely the people! I love that it’s a small campus, and you see people you know all the time. Also, the overall spirit that happens on campus is great, and it is really easy to find a sense of belonging.

What are you involved in on and off campus?

I am a Residence Life Don in Bricker Residence, and teach dance at the Athletic Center as part of the Rec Dance program. I also coach an intermural dodgeball team of first year students. I also volunteer off campus in an organization called Nutrition for Learning, where I help with a breakfast program at MacGregor Public School. It is so refreshing to get off campus and see some little kiddies.

Go-to place to get food?

I really love Taco Farm. My friends joke that I go every week, but I have really only been four times.

What is your favourite Laurier memory?

If I have to pick only one, I would say the day I decided to be a don. After a lot of deliberation, I told my don that the answer was YES! I am not a crier but I literally balled my face off, but they were tears of joy!

What “most likely to” superlative would you be honored to receive?

I have funny and dorky answers for this one. The dorky answer would be “most likely in their lifetime to make a tangible change to some sort of society to better the lives of people.” My funny answer would be “most likely to become a Broadway superstar” because I think deep down that it would be really cool.

What is your fashion staple?

A circle scarf with a big hair clip on it so I can always put my hair up!

If you could be any age for a week, what age would you be?

Hands down six years old, I would just run around and play all day. I would have a larger than life imagination and probably change my outfit seventeen times a day because I used to do that.

How would your friends describe you?

The caring grandmother that likes to go wild on occasion. I have the nurturing tendencies of a grandma but I also like to have a good time.

If you could give a piece of advice to all Laurier Golden Hawks, what would it be?

Always remember that everything happens for a reason, and to keep that in mind when things are going really well and also when they’re not.

Jacqueline is no doubt an incredible lady! She cares so deeply about others and can tell a story better than anyone we know, so if you see her on campus make sure you say hello! It will be sure to make her day!

You can typically find katy cuddled up with her favourite blankie, under the twinkle lights, drinking some peppermint tea and listening to Ben Howard. She spends her evenings switching between gushing over wedding videos and catching up on some Gilmore Girls. She loves her little nephew, everything knit, & all things with sparkles.
