If you could travel anywhere right now…would you? If so, where?

Easy question, Europe. I have a dual citizenship, from Canada and Switzerland, so I would love to put that to use one day and work in Switzerland for a while and travel the rest of Europe on my spare time. I have visited Switzerland once before when I was younger, but I would love to experience it now as an adult.

What is the last piece of advice someone gave you

We are always worrying that we are not happy enough, not rich enough, not thin enough, and thinking that what we have is not good enough but what we don’t realize is that the life we are living is someone else’s dream and that where we are sitting right now is someone else’s travel destination. Love what you have because if it gets taken away from you, you will forever want it back.

What’s the last thing that made you cry?

I am extremely ticklish…So whenever someone tickles me I lose all control and sometimes end up laughing so hard that I shed a tear.

What’s the last thing that made you smile?

It would probably have to be my girlfriend. She is always there to pick me up when I am having a bad day, no matter the situation, she can always seem to pull a smile out of me.

What passions have driven you over the past four years of your academic career?

I am extremely interested in media, I know that is broad and unspecific, but I am just obsessed with constantly being updated and knowledgeable about the news, current events, the internet etc. I think this gave me the drive to get a career and a meaningful one that deals with the media. It has gotten me through four years of my undergrad and is now pushing me forward to getting a postgrad in marketing management. I think that I will start off with a corporate marketing company, but I eventually want to become more creative with it and do something special with my degree…I simply have yet to figure out what that is… haha

If you could create your own academic program, what would it be?

I think I would create a Digital Culture program. It probably exists somewhere, but I am a big digital culture nerd. I spend the majority of my free time on the internet browsing countless different articles, tutorials, videos, games, etc. I just think that media studies and communication studies do not really go in depth on digital culture, not saying that no academic research has been done on the topic, but I feel like there is so much information on digital culture that is unexplored, it could be its own discipline.

If money were no object, what would you be doing with your life right now?

I would definitely be a travel photographer. I got into photography in my late high school years, and ever since I spent my teenage life saving for a DSLR I have really fallen in love with the art of photography. If money were no object I would buy much better equipment and tickets to the most exotic and beautiful places of the earth. That would be the dream.

Is there a quote/saying that you always refer back to?

Life isn’t fair, Trevor” – My Mom

I know this doesn’t sound life a quote that really motivates you or anything, but it is something that my mom has always told me as a kid whenever I complained about something not going my way. It has just stuck with me and it reminds me that you can’t sit around complaining about what you don’t have, you have to appreciate the little things. It is almost always followed by a ‘but…’ sentence to remind you that yes life is not fair, but there is so much good in it. My mom is a lovely lady, she says really happy quotes as well too, this is just the first one that came to mind.

The girls at Her Campus Wilfrid Laurier are sure that Trevor and his golden heart will be just fine. All the best Trevor! HCxo
