Campus Celeb: Krista Bracco

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wilfrid Laurier chapter.

Meet Krista, this week’s campus celebrity! You probably recognize her from the Winter Carnival’s intro video, Sorry. Check out our interview with her and find out more about how you can get involved with her team next year! If you haven’t gotten to know her yet, you’re missing out. Take your chance now and read this article!

Name: Krista Bracco

Age: 20

Program: Business Administration

Relationship Status: Single

Motto: Always be yourself, unless you can be Beyoncé, then always be Beyoncé.

What have you been involved in at Laurier in the past three years?

In my first year, I was an executive on First Year Project. In my second and third year, I was an executive on Winter Carnival. I was also an Ice Breaker this year. I have recently been hired as the Registration and Clothing Executive on O-Team and the incoming Coordinator for Winter Carnival. Right now, I am still currently looking to hire members on my executive team.

If you could tell first year Krista a piece of advice, what would it be?

Don’t spend all your flex dollars at Starbucks in the first two months… Also, always be confident in yourself and don’t hold back from doing what you want to do.

What has been your favourite memory at Laurier so far?

There have been so many memories to pick a favourite, but my favourite was probably in first year. I was captain of a first year team for Winter Carnival and my team had just arrived at opening ceremonies. The atmosphere was so positive and energetic that it made me fall in love with the whole program, and it was the reason I got involved with it for the past 3 years.

Favourite reality show?

Keeping up with the Kardashians. Seeing Kim cry makes me laugh every time because she is such an ugly crier. It has also been my dream that Kris Jenner would one day legally adopt me.

Going into your fourth year at Laurier, what do you hope to accomplish before you leave?

Of course, I want to see O-week and Winter Carnival to be a big success. There is not much I want to accomplish other than enjoy my last year here. I want to enjoy my last set of classes and spend as much time with friends before the year comes to an end.

If you could compare yourself to one celebrity, who would it be and why?

I would compare myself to Amy Schumer because we both have a sarcastic sense of humour. We both also speak without a filter, which is not always the best thing at times. I really admire her confidence and strive to have that quality in myself.

What is something most people don’t know about you?

I love to cook. I pretty much grew up in the kitchen with my both my grandmothers. My dad’s family is from Italy, so I have learned how to make every type of pasta known to man. I have almost perfected most of my family recipes, but my cooking will never compare to my Nonna’s or Dad’s. #wifeymaterial

What is your go-to food on the way home from the bar?

Gino’s Pizza! My roommates and I go there so much that the employees now know us.

Biggest fear?

I don’t like seeing someone touch his or her neck or having someone touch my neck. I don’t even like touching my own neck. It really makes me uncomfortable for some reason. My friends think it’s the funniest fear, but it’s a real phobia. It’s called Haphephobia.

Cat or dog person?

Dog. My mom and brother are allergic to cats so I have always only grown up with dogs.

To join Krista’s executive team for Winter Carnival, apply here! There are also spots for general members, which will be available to apply for starting in September.

You will typically see me with a large cup of tea and browsing social media under the fairy lights and reading up on my favourite lady bosses (Mindy Kaling let me be you please). Also my trivia regarding superheroes is endless. I have more music than time to listen to and someone definitely should consider taking away my blogging privileges. My love for pop culture is limitless and Netflix is the true MVP in my opinion. Contributor writer for HerCampus Laurier Stalk me and let's be friends here: Insta & Twitter: webofem
