I don’t care what anyone says, the fall season is the best season for dates. The weather is perfect, it’s sweater weather and there is so much more to do! However, if you love the fall but still can’t seem to think of any fun things to do with your partner (or the girls), here are some exciting ideas to spice up your spooky season.

hiking/going on a nature walk

Okay, this one sounds boring, but I promise you that hiking and walking are SO MUCH BETTER in the fall. The leaves are changing to beautiful colours, the air is crisp and you won’t sweat because of the weather! There are stunning hiking trails all across the GTA and even near Waterloo. To make things even easier, the Ontario Parks website lets you know what colour the leaves are at specified locations (perfect for some sightseeing or insta pics). One of my favourite places to walk is Main St, Unionville because of the adorable little town/village vibe and the gorgeous park nearby. There are a lot of cozy little cafes nearby that are perfect to grab a warm drink from and take a stroll through the gorgeous trail.

carving pumpkins

Carving pumpkins together is the ultimate fall date activity. You can carve one together or even have a competition. To make it even more fun, compete against another couple! Grab a pumpkin from your local grocery store or pick one at a local farm (check out my article “5 Farms You Need to Visit this Fall” for some great options). I would literally get a boyfriend just to carve pumpkins with them.

Halloween haunt

If you live in the GTA, then you definitely know of or have been to Canada’s Wonderland’s Halloween Haunt. This spookyfest is the perfect blend of an amusement park date and a haunted house. If you’re up for it, visit the haunted houses together (perfect opportunity to cuddle up close if you’re scared), but if that’s not your thing then you have so many fun rides to go on instead! Also, wouldn’t it just be so romantic to share a funnel cake with your boo?

pumpkins after dark

Pumpkins After Dark is an adorable drive-through experience where you get to check out hundreds of artistic pumpkin displays in a spooky setting. It’s a perfect opportunity to snap some pictures of all the cute displays from the comfort of a car. You can also choose to listen to their radio station during your visit, which will guide you through all the unique displays and listen to some Halloween bops.

drive-in movies

I feel like drive-in movies are such a fall thing to do, especially because they’re not available all year round (the vibes are just immaculate). The Stardust Drive-in Theatre is a popular theatre in East Gwillimbury that is showing both Halloween movies and new releases this month. Drive-in movies are just so much more unique and fun compared to regular movie theatres, plus the extra privacy is an added bonus. ( ͡° ʖ ͡°)

There are a lot of exciting date ideas in the fall and hopefully, I’ve covered a few that you and your partner will enjoy!

Anikka Salandran is a 2nd-year student at Wilfrid Laurier University studying English (still deciding her double major and minor!) When she is not busy writing essays and reading books you can find her dipping chocolate strawberries for her business or binge-watching Netflix. Fun fact: She has a twin!
