4 Small South Asian Businesses to Support This Mother’s Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wilfrid Laurier chapter.

Mother’s Day is coming up! If you’re struggling to pick a gift for your mom, grandma, aunt or any motherly figure in your life, here are a few small businesses specializing in gifts anyone would love. From beautiful custom baskets to handmade semi-precious stone bracelets, each of these small businesses have something perfect for Mother’s Day and they are all South Asian-owned!

1. Calming Creations @calmingcreations.inc

Calming Creations is a wonderful small business specializing in handmade semi-precious stone accessories, varying from stunning bracelets to elegant anklets to cute keychains. Not only do they make beautiful jewelry, but each item can be customized with adorable charms and spacers. I love shopping here for my mom as the girls who run the business, Lishana and Luxsana, are so kind and helpful in creating a design perfect for you. Each order comes packaged adorably with info cards describing properties of your chosen stone (which I LOVE!). My mom’s personal fav are the anklets (she is always wearing at least one), but be sure to check out the options they have available for this Mother’s Day!

2. Dipped With Love @dippedwithlove.to

Is this self-promo? Heck yeah! Despite chocolate dipped berries being my only personality trait at this point, if you didn’t know already, I have my own small business too! Dipped With Love is a GTA-based small business specializing in custom chocolate dipped strawberry boxes, beautiful bouquets and breakable hearts! This Mother’s Day is all about floral bouquets! If you really want to show your mom you love her, what better way than gifting her flowers and delicious berries? Dipped With Love has three stunning options at three different price points. All bouquets include an option of freshly bloomed roses or carnations, milk chocolate berries and an adorable Happy Mother’s Day topper all perfectly wrapped up! Not only am I a small South Asian business, but so are the suppliers of my flowers and toppers! Support three South Asian businesses with one pretty product and check out the gorgeous bouquets for Mother’s Day.

3. The Basket Babe @the.basketbabe

The Basket Babe is a small business known for cute custom gift baskets, beautiful chocolate bouquets and so much more. Each basket and bouquet are crafted to be perfect for the lucky recipient.  Sanjana, the cutie behind The Basket Babe strives to make the most personalized and perfect gifts for every occasion! Her handmade chocolate bouquets are my personal favourite, as she makes stunning arrangements featuring rich Lindor truffles or delectable Ferrero Rochers, fresh roses and adorable baby’s breathe all bundled together into an elegant bouquet. Each of her items are so beautifully crafted that I would literally have a baby just to receive them for Mother’s Day. Be sure to check out Sanjana’s creations on Instagram for the perfect Mother’s Day gift!

4. Archana’s Cakerie @archanas.cakerie

Archana’s Cakerie is a small business known for delicious cakes baked by the sweet Archana. Hands down, Archana makes the best chocolate buttercream I have ever tasted in my life. Not only are her cakes absolutely delicious but her prices are too good to be true (Archana, if you’re reading this you gotta up the prices; your cakes are TOO good!). Not only does she make stunning cakes but also some delightful cupcakes that are perfect for sharing! Be sure to check out her Mother’s Day promos, varying from tasty treat boxes to a dream mini cake that would make the perfect gift this Mother’s Day.

Hopefully this list of wonderful small businesses will help you pick what you would like to get the motherly figure in your life! Not only are these gifts perfect for Mother’s Day, but they are also great for any time you just want to show appreciation for anyone!
