You may have heard slang like the above example floating around on campus or on the Internet. Have you ever wondered what it actually means? Can’t catch up with the popular slang culture? I’ve got you covered. Here are some slang words and phrases currently circling about on social media. 


Pop off

verb

Express intense emotional outburst; to become really pissed off

Example: “Bradley is getting too worked up. He’s gonna pop off any minute.”  

Jank

adjective

Broken, screwed up, unnecessarily redundant, questionable

Example: “That lesson was jank, I didn’t understand any of it.”

Whose mans is this?

Used to express somebody who is killing the moment or situation.

Example: “That guy just vomited all over the floor. Whose mans is this?”

Bare

adjective 

A lot of; used in disbelief 

Example: “There is bare people at this concert.” 

Whatchu sayin’

An alternative of “what’s up”; used as a form of greeting.

Used to describe somebody who does not care about consequences of their actions; ruthless character

Example: “That professor just roasted you in class. Savage.”


Gucci

adjective 

Good, cool; everything is fine 

Example: “Just aced this test, we Gucci.”


Shook

adjective

Shocked or surprised, disbelief  

Example: “That Trump rally got me shook.”


Link up

verb

To get together with another person 

Example: “Board game night – link up at my place!”

Wasteman

Noun

An insult to someone who does nothing (or little) with their life

Example: “They just showed up an hour late to their exam. What a wasteman.”
