Welcome to Spooky Season everyone! It is officially that time of the year where everyone gets to dress up and party in costumes. Since it’s just before the 31st, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to list out some songs that are perfect to add to your Halloween party playlist. If you’re planning on throwing a party or just looking for some spooky music, these songs are guaranteed to get you in the perfect mood for (what me and my friends consider) the best holiday of the year!
Somebody’s Watching Me by Rockwell
This song is an absolute classic for Halloween, the eerie message behind this song is sure to get you frightened just in time for the 31st.
Monster Mash by Bobby “Boris” Pickett
No Halloween playlist is complete without this song, that’s just a given. Everyone will be singing along the second it comes on.
Sweet Dreams by Beyoncé
At least one Beyoncé song deserves to be on every playlist ever made. While this is not explicitly a Halloween song, it totally still fits the mood of the night.
Disturbia by Rihanna
Just like it should be an unwritten rule to have Beyoncé songs in all your playlists, the same goes with Rihanna. The creepy lyrics in this song and dark beat make it perfect for your playlist.
The Monster by Eminem (ft. Rihanna)
I think the title explains this one on its own. Also, more Rihanna, so who could say no?
Thriller by Michael Jackson
Any Halloween playlist is incomplete until this song is in it. Being another classic for the holiday, this song is sure to inspire everyone to get up and do the iconic “thriller” dance.
Black Magic by Little Mix
Who doesn’t love a good girl band? This song takes the common song topic of wanting your crush to notice you and adds in an undertone of witchy, spell-binding vibes.
E.T. by Katy Perry (ft. Kanye West)
Aliens have been a popular costume for the last few years, and I’m sure with all those Area 51 memes a few months ago, it’s going to be popular once again this year.
Superstition by Stevie Wonder
Halloween is the time of the year where many common superstitions become more relevant in our everyday lives, like crossing black cats for example, so this song is perfect for your playlist.
Ghostbusters by Ray Parker Jr.
Another song that is a guaranteed staple in all Halloween playlists. Everyone is sure to get amped up and shout “Ghostbusters” the second this song comes on.
Time Warp by the Cast of Glee
Originally from the Rocky Horror Picture Show, but I personally prefer the Glee version. Unpopular opinion?
Spooky Scary Skeletons by Andrew Gold
This one is a favourite with my roommates. We usually find a more upbeat, dance remix to play but it’s a fun song to put on as it reminds us of Halloween memories from when we were younger.
