12 Memes From 2016 That Revived Our Faith in Love

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wilfrid Laurier chapter.

Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, REPEAT– my biggest love affair. Between mouth watering food videos, Kermit the Frog tweets, and the daily engagement/baby announcements – you can lose track of time scrolling up on your phone.

The trend-setting form of communication taking social media by storm is memes! From tagging, sharing, retweeting, and “liking”– this contagious yet humorous habit continues to resonate with us.

While the act of meme scrolling for hours may be unhealthy, these 12 memes from 2016 will “do good” to your health…in terms of your perception of love!

1.

Anytime you look at your significant other and you realize how lucky you are.

2.

That time when she voiced a fact and he was shocked yet slightly proud of it.

3.

When you get comfortable enough to be your true self and he still FaceTimes you because he loves you.

4.

When you’ve been on a rant for 20 minutes discussing how incredibly pissed you are that Stacy wore the same shade of lipstick as you last night and your man continues to listen and is genuinely interested.

5.

Because my Mama always taught me to love… by giving my used toys to the less fortunate.

6.

When he texted you first while putting you first #DoubleWhammy.

7.

Because the expression of loving them has no expiration date.

8.

Because she’s more important than being right (but we both know she’s right).

9.

And realised vaguely messaging 25 girls is less fun than exchanging genuine and meaningful messages with 1 girl.

10.

When “she thick” on the inside. ;)

11.

When “he” is confident about the relationship and the “guy” is respectful of that…(Wow who would’ve thought?)

12.

When being wanted for your mind gets you feeling “some type of way”.

Wilfrid Laurier

Hi! I'm Gabriella Leitao and I'm a third year student at Wilfrid Laurier University majoring in Communications with minors in Religion and Cultural Studies. The only thing I love more than writing is froyo... and acai bowls... and Netflix... and boys who are good at winking. I am a huge Ed Sheeran fan, always lost in a crowd, and I'm essentially an insomniac who takes sporadic naps. I am addicted to filling up my cart online shopping and then realizing I am a broke university student and closing out the page. My greatest talent in life is being able to move my nostrils and eyebrows in rhythm ... my parents are very proud of me, as you can imagine. Hit me up on the Insta: @lilgabsss & the Twitter-sphere: @l1lgabsss (sometimes I'm witty)
