Last week, Kim Kardashian was robbed at gunpoint by masked men while visiting Paris for Fashion Week. As the week went on, more harrowing details about the incident were revealed: she was gagged; her arms and legs tied up, she was locked in the bathroom, and $11 million worth of jewelry was stolen. Social media users quickly -and sadly- took to their platforms spreading comments saturated with misogyny, slut-shaming, and victim blaming. This video breaks down people’s comments and looks into what they tell us about celebrity culture and the sexist way the public perceives female victims of violence.
