Exclusive Access To Deals At Masonville’s Campus Night

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Western chapter.

Cadillac Fairview hosted their first-ever Campus Night at Masonville Place on September 21, featuring free transportation, samples, and discounts to connect with the Western University and Fanshawe College students.

For over 50 years, Cadillac Fairview has owned and operated top-tier malls in Canada, including Toronto Eaton Centre and Fairview Mall.

Campus Night runs once-a-month across Canada and targets university towns. Schools in Ottawa, Toronto and Calgary also took part this year.

The event, which ran from 5pm to 9pm, supplied free cab rides through Yellow London Taxi. With CF Masonville logos indicating that they are free shuttles, taxis could be found in front of three pick-up locations: Saugeen-Maitland Hall residence, University Drive (in front of Elgin Hall), and Ontario Hall’s roundabout.

Yellow London Taxi was also promoting their new app, which offers customers low flat rates. Drivers at the event provided students with discount cards that entitled the holder to 10% off their next ride.

“I came for the deals, it’s always good to save money somewhere!” said Rachel Simpson, fourth year Arts student at Western University.

The stores participating in this event ranged from Hudson’s Bay cosmetic and fragrance department, Freshii, Spareparts, TOPSHOP/TOPMAN, MICHAEL KORS, Chatr, and Caryl Baker Visage.

Hudson’s Bay hosted a giveaway for a draw basket worth over $250 and handed out makeup and perfume samples from Dior, Chanel, Clinique, MAC, and Estee Lauder.

Freshii, Spareparts and TOPSHOP/TOPMAN offered 10-20% discounts.

Student ambassadors Tianna Palumbo, a fourth year Ivey student, and Waverly Shin, a fourth year Sociology student, were also promoting the event through Facebook, holding contests and giving away promotional $10 gift cards.

“I liked the samples and how friendly the sales associates were. There were a lot of students around as well, so I felt comfortable asking questions about new products,” said Alice Yin, second year math student at Western University.

The next Campus Night is scheduled for October 19.
