Christmas is my favourite time of the year; the lights, the beautifully decorated Christmas trees wherever you go, the Christmas cookies, songs, movies…the list is endless! But the best thing about Christmas has to be the presents, and that includes giving them! Every year, there are people scrambling to figure out what gifts to give their friends and family, and many leave it to the last minute. But giving presents doesn’t have to be so hard, and who says that you can only find presents in a store or on a website? The best presents are the ones with the most thought so we thought we’d share a few DIY Christmas present ideas that are sure to impress anyone!

Jersey Knit Bracelets
These are super easy to make and they look great! Depending on the person you’re giving them to, you can make them in a variety of colors. If you want to add a little extra, add a matching bow belt or leather headband. You could make a pretty bird nest necklace that looks adorable. These are cute little additions that can make an outfit look more fun and girly, and with the added bonus of being made by you, any girls you know love them!

Candles
Everybody loves candles; they add character to a space, brighten up a room and look pretty! Why not customize some candles to add a personal touch? You could print words or pictures onto a plain candle for instant chic candles (click here for the tutorial) or a great website I just found shows you how to use crayons to design your own candles! I love this idea because it lets you go crazy and you can make any design you want according to what the person likes (click here for the tutorial).

Spa Scrubbie and Tropical Bath Tea Soak

This looks just as luscious as it sounds! Why not give a friend or family member a special spa experience? The soak will leave skin soft and refreshed and anyone happy! The cute little scrubbie adds a cute personal touch, but if you’re pressed for time or don’t know how to sew, you could either glue the pieces together or buy one from a store. If you have extra time, why not personalize the bottle? You could add sequins, lace, ribbons, paper…let your creativity run free! Click here for the tutorial.

Beautiful bookmarks
Over the years, I have amassed a collection of single earrings for no reason, until this day! This is a great way to use your single earrings; you could also use charms or other trinkets. They look beautiful and are perfect for someone who loves to read. Click here to learn how to make these beautiful bookmarks.

Baking Kit
I have to admit, this is one of the cutest ideas I have seen. Get a cute vintage tin lunchbox and fill it with cute baking necessities. Buy cupcake liners in a variety of colors and designs and mix and match; add in different sprinkles, maybe a mini cupcake book and whatever else you can think of.

Cone Presents
This is another cute idea that has endless possibilities. Get any kind of paper that catches your eye, a good idea is to get a pad of scrap book paper in different colors and designs, cut out a square or circle, line one side with glue and start rolling from the other side to form a cone. You can add candy, bath salts, hair accessories, jewellery…anything your heart desires! For pictures and instructions, click here.

Personalized Calendar
This may not seem like much, but with your personal touches this calendar can be spectacular. Start by getting a clear calendar, if you can’t find one, any calendar is fine and you can cover the pictures with paper. You’ll need some paper to line the back of every month, you could use scrap book paper again for a variety of designs and colors, and pictures of the two of you together or pictures that relate to their interests. For example, if you have a friend who loves reading Vogue you could print off  pictures of their most iconic covers, if you know someone who loves art you could get pictures of their favourite artists’ work. For extra glamour, you could add little touches like glitter, lace or buttons.  Then use your imagination; mix and match different backgrounds with different pictures and designs. This is a really fun project that people will love!

Rida is a fourth year student at the University of Western Ontario and is extremely excited about the opportunity to bring Her Campus to London! She recently changed her major from Finance to English Literature after finally realizing what she wanted to do with her life. Having spent her whole life in the Middle East (Dubai and Saudi Arabia) Rida had no choice but to grow up a shopaholic! Having shifted from the desert to the great ice box that is Canada, she still finds it difficult to adjust to the freezing weather. In her spare time, Rida likes reading, watching way too many shows, stuffed crust pizza and,of course, shopping! Her aspirations are to one day live in Paris and be a writer for Vogue.
