Halloween is the best time of year; please do not even try to argue with me on this one. I will not hear of it, and you are only wasting your breath. I love Halloween. That said, I have one complaint: I feel like I see the same four or five couple’s costumes over and over and over again! I am sick of it. I think the couple costumes are so cute and a great way for partners to show their creativity and get in the spooky spirit. But I swear, if I see one more Jim and Pam show up to the party, I may lose my marbles.  I will admit, it can be difficult to think of something doable and suits both members of the relationship, but it can be done. I give my friends a lot of credit on this topic. Whenever they find themselves in a relationship, they always did a great job of working with their partners to think of really unique, crafty costumes.  So if in the next couple of weeks you find you and your “boo” thing stumped when it comes to what you will be wearing on the big night, here are some of my favorite couples costumes that I saw in the past few years.

1) Marty McFly and Jennifer Parker

Taken from the 1985 cinematic masterpiece, Back to the Future, directed by Robert Zemeckis, one of the best couple’s costumes I ever witnessed was Marty McFly and his girlfriend, Jennifer.
It is a simple costume to replicate and perfect for any couple who is not into paying tons of money to dress super crazy for one evening. All you need is some good denim and maybe a red and pink jacket for both Marty and Jennifer, respectively.
Though it does not require a whole lot of time, you will be certain to have everyone at the party exclaiming, “Great Scott!”

2) Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy

This one is for the goofy couple who is looking to make a splash at any Halloween shindig they get invited to attend.
A nod to every 90’s baby’s favorite cartoon, Spongebob Squarepants, this duo is one that not many people think of when planning their costumes with their partner. However, what’s more romantic than fighting crime and saving Bikini Bottom?
Slap on some silly old-man disguises and stick two purple shells on one of your pairs of boobs and you will be good to go! Wear pink slippers and an ascot to go the extra mile and have all of your friends feel safe knowing that you and your partner are there to protect the fun.

3) Scott Pilgrim and Ramona Flowers

For the nontraditional couple, a nontraditional costume, Scott Pilgrim and Ramona Flowers, from the film Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, are the creative couple’s dream.
Any wacky, indie outfits work for this costume as long as Scott is looking miserable and musical and Ramona’s hair is some color that is certainly not found in nature.
If you are looking to accessorize, bring your favorite guitar as a reference to Scott’s role in his band Sex Bomb-omb. Just make sure you are on the lookout for seven evil exes, lest they catch you with your guard down while you’re munching away at your millionth Reese’s Pumpkin of the night.

4) The Queen of Hearts and The White Queen

If you and your partner are a fan of the cooky, slightly creepy realm of fantasy, The Queen of Hearts and her sister, The White Queen would make the perfect look. A nod at Tim Burton’s rendition of the classic story, Alice in Wonderland, no one will be expecting that much royalty to show up at their event.
This costume allows for both partners to get real crafty with their makeup, paling out the faces and adding exaggerated features to achieve the looks of both queens in the film.
Wear whatever red and white outfits you see fit, and if anyone dares to ask who you are, well, off with their heads!
