Top 5 Pop Culture Inspired Halloween Costumes of 2016

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Waterloo chapter.

If you’re anything like me and have an obsession with pop culture, it’s usually your go-to inspiration for Halloween costumes. With everything that’s been going on this year, it’s hard to narrow down the list of options, but here’s hoping we made your costume search a little easier:

1. Donald Trump and/or Hillary Clinton

With everything going on with the presidential election, this had to make the list:

2. KEN BONE

To go along with the ~election theme~ we had to have KEN BONE as one of our costume inspirations as he is still one of the top moments of this entire campaign season:

Ken’s famous red sweater has sold out since his TV debut, but you can probably find something similar at Walmart or in your relative’s closet.

3. Cast of Stranger Things

Um, quite possibly one of the best shows I have ever seen. Just to give you guys an idea of how great it was – I started watching the show with my parents and we stayed up until 2 am binge watching it on Netflix (my dad usually goes to sleep at 9pm – so yeah, it was that good).

If you have been watching the show or have already seen it, you know the obsession that I’m talking about, especially with the cast. There are so many options when it comes to choosing your costume with this, and you don’t need to stick to the groups below, you can mix and match the characters with your friends (i.e. Mike and Eleven, The Buyers family…etc)

The Kids

The Teenagers

S/O to Barb – MVP

Joyce Buyers and Jim Hopper

Honorable mention: The Wall

4. Pokémon GO

I wish I was joking, but Pokémon GO was one of the most popular/most talked about event of this past summer, so naturally, it’s on the list

5. BEY FROM LEMONADE

YES, so many fun options to go for this idea (AND accompanying Instagram captions so it’s a clear win-win). Here are a few ideas for you to try:

Formation

Hold Up

Don’t Hurt Yourself

Hope you guys have a fun and safe Halloween this year, and that your costumes and Instagram pictures are fabulous!
