I heard them come

In the middle of the night

As the moon began to fade

And the darkness grew

I heard the snap of twigs under their feet

And the wind’s cries through their hair

I ran to grab my packs

Clothes and food while trying wake everyone up

But their legs were longer, and far quicker

And broke down the door first

And I stood there

Like a puppy, trying to defend my home

With my arms up, and tears threatening to fall

I knew they’d come. They were always there,

Behind the tall grass, waiting to pounce when the sun fell

And I  couldn’t do enough to run.

I wasn’t fast enough to escape

And so here I am

At least I stand with honour, to defend my little land

Hi, I like Starbucks, my laptop and fantastical imagery. Other than that, I am in my 1B term of Health Studies at the University of Waterloo. Stick around to check out some of my poetry :)
