Fall Reading Break: Expectations vs. Reality

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Waterloo chapter.

So you’re officially back to the grind and probably wishing you were more productive over the break..let’s take a look at what your (and most) Fall reading breaks may have looked like:

STUDYING

Expectation: You’ll catch up in all your classes, do all your readings for the next week and get ahead on all your upcoming assignments.

Reality: You read three chapters for one of your five courses. Oops.

SOCIALIZING

Expectation: You’ll have tons of fun with your friends this week, after all your assignments are done of course!

Reality: You saw your friends once, and you spent the whole time actively avoiding thinking about all the work you still had to do so that you didn’t feel guilty about being out.

FAMILY TIME

Expectation: You’ll have some quality family time to bond with your parents, siblings, and extended family over thanksgiving dinner.

Reality: SO MUCH ARGUING.

SLEEP

Expectation: You’ll get eight hours of sleep per night and finally get your sleep schedule straightened out – early to bed, early to rise!

Reality: You stayed up until 2:00 am every night watching Netflix, then slept until noon.

THANKSGIVING DINNER

Expectation: You’ll eat way too much delicious food and end up in a food coma on the couch.

Reality: You ate way too much delicious food and ended up in a food coma on the couch.

At least you were right about one thing!
