Name: Devonte Muller
Program & Year: Health Promotion, 3A
Hometown: Hamilton, ON
Relationship Status: Single
Describe yourself in one word: Charismatic.
Fun Fact: I am a high school football player turned university cheerleader.
What made you choose to attend Waterloo? Mainly the program. Health promotion is the only program of its kind offered in Canada.
If money didn’t matter, what would you want as a job? I would want to be a primary school teacher. I think it would be challenging but rewarding. (Awh, he loves kids!)
Idea of a perfect date? Nothing too extravagant. I would get food ready in advance and take my date on a picnic where we would maybe watch a movie in the park or watch some live music. Then getting some ice cream (or dessert) while strolling around town.
So, you’re a cheerleader…tell us how you got started and what keeps you coming back to the sport? A friend I met during orientation week was already involved with the cheerleading team and she convinced me to come tryout. I said “why not” and came to tryouts. I surprisingly made the team and I fell involve with the physicality of the sport and the people.
You’re so clean shaven! Would you ever grow a beard/mustache….why or why not? If I was able to grow a proper beard/mustache then I definitely would. However it grows in patchy so my face looks better when I’m clean shaven.
On that note, what are your thoughts on man buns? I think it’s a fad that needs to end. There are few people who can actually pull them off so it’s safer if people just don’t bother.
Your favourite dish/best dish you can cook? My favourite dish would be steak with some garlic mashed potatoes. The best I can cook is some stir fry. (Yummy!)
Most embarrassing date? I don’t know if I have ever had an embarrassing date but I have had awkward ones. During this date, my date just kept bashing football and varsity athletes. Once they found out I was a varsity athlete and that I played football, neither of us were asking each other for another date.. (Yikes!)
Now that school’s finally swinging back into motion do you have any regrets from last summer? I wish I didn’t work as much so I could have spent a little more time with people I’m close with. However, the money was a good trade-off!
