Ever since Kylie Jenner released her Kylie Lip Kits, liquid lipsticks have been all the rage in the world of makeup and now it seems like all makeup brands have their own line of these liquid-to-matte formulas. The trend started off as nude, then transitioned into vibrant colours and even metallic shades. What makes them popular is the fact that they are pigmented, long-lasting, and there is a wide range of colours to choose from. While Kylie Lip Kits are the gold standard, most university girls are unable to afford high-end makeup, so I’ve compiled a list of my favourite drugstore brands that are good quality.
Colourpop Cosmetics
A brand that has taken over the internet for having great quality for the price, Colourpop is an L.A.-based makeup brand with a range of products including brow pomade, blush, bronzer, highlighter, and three different kinds of lipsticks. As a bonus, they have extra-cute packaging that makes their products even better. Their Ultra Matte Lips are the most raved about, followed by Ultra Satin Lips, Lippie Stix, and Ultra Metallic Lips
NYX Cosmetics
This brand is known for having a lot of products that are often mistaken for high-end makeup. Their brow products and contour kits are similar to the ones from Anastasia Beverly Hills, their blushes and bronzers have been compared to Nars, and their lipstick line has been trending all over Pinterest and Instagram. Their NYX Lip Lingerie line has risen to popularity and some other popular products include their soft matte lip creams, matte lipsticks, butter lipsticks, liquid suede, and butter glosses.
BH Cosmetics
An online brand that has high quality for the price, you can find almost everything at BH. Most of the products that they offer have a high four-star rating, which is an excellent rating compared to a lot of other reviews that I’ve seen on other brands. They have 16 liquid lipsticks and eight metallic ones, all of which have impressed their customers.
Milani Cosmetics
Another great cruelty-free drugstore brand! Milani Cosmetics has an extensive line of makeup as well. They are primarily famous for their blushes, bronzers, and eye primer, but their liquid lipstick selection has gotten a lot of attention. With similar dupes to high-end brands like Anastasia Beverly Hills, there are a lot of good quality products from this brand. The only drawback is that I can’t find a lot of their products in Canada.
