Besides pumpkin spice lattes, knit sweaters, those cute boots from Aldo and the leaves changing colours, Halloween is obviously the best thing about fall! Here are 8 reasons you should get excited for Halloween at Waterloo:
1. Halloween falls on a Saturday this year!
No classes on Saturday, which means you can celebrate the WHOLE DAY. * insert the confetti emoji * *insert pumpkin emoji * #halloweekend
2. Candy
Halloween is pretty much an excuse to eat tons of candy and not feel that guilty that you are eating the amount of candy equivalent to the weight of all of your textbooks. Sometimes if you’re lucky, your prof will give you candy the Friday before. (We’re crossing our fingers!)
3. Dressing Up
It’s not everyday you get to dress to be whatever you want. Plus it’s an excuse to take an unhealthy amount of polaroids and instas with your friends. Don’t know what to be for Halloween? Check out pinterest!
4. Watching Halloween/Scary Movies
Similar to how you would watch Christmas movies to get yourself in the Christmas spirit, you watch scary/Halloween movies to get into Halloween Spirit no?! Not to mention, Disney channel airs all the Halloweentown movies on their channel during October…so find a TV with cable!!
5. Watching Andy from The Ellen DeGeneres show go to Haunted Houses
In particular, going to Scream Park at Bingemans which is the BEST haunted house attraction in Waterloo. Sure it’s a mission to get to Bingemans all the way in Kitchener but it is definitely worth travelling to as there are 6 different types of haunted houses. In one of them you get to shoot zombies, how cool is that??? For more information on Scream Park check them out on their website!
If you didn’t carve a pumpkin during Halloween, did you even celebrate Halloween?  If you can’t get yourself a pumpkin that’s ok! Every year the Cercle de Français (The French Club) hosts a pumpkin-carving event and displays their creations in front of Porcellino.  You don’t need to know how to speak it but it’s an awesome opportunity to brush up on your French and carve pumpkins at the same time. Check out the poster below for more information:
If you didn’t know already, this biology professor is notoriously known for dressing up in a costume every Halloween and teaching in said costume. The internet goes crazy over this guy on reddit here and twitter here. In 2012 he was Darth Vader, 2013 Batman and last year he was a minion. Get excited to see what we he will be this year!
