Between cramming for that last final exam, editing countess drafts for final papers and FINALLY getting around to that end of term project, December has become an incredibly stressful time for students. It’s inevitable that you have the worst exam schedule, ranging from hard exams to exams on the last day of the term. At this point in the semester, you’re running on more cups of coffee per day than hours of sleep.

But never fear, because your phone may be able to help you out this exam season. This list is compiled of 6 different exams that will help you beat the stress of exams and allow you to enjoy a calmer holiday season.

1. GOOGLE CALENDAR

There really is no better way to organize your life than using a calendar. With Google Calendar, you are able to use the Google Drive services to keep your calendar from your computer and mirror it on your phone. Complete with notifications, reminders and different colours for all your different deadlines and appointments, you’ll be sure to relax knowing that you’ll never miss a deadline. All you need is a Google account to use this app.

2. FREEDOM – REDUCE DISTRACTIONS

As wonderful as social media and Netflix can be, sometimes they impede us from getting things done. With this app, you’ll be able to block certain websites on all your devices from one app for a period of time selected by you. You won’t be able to access them during this time, or stop the timer – meaning you’ll actually be productive when you intend to be. You also have the option to set repeated timers at specific times of the day, meaning you’ll know every day between 4 and 5 is study time. You’ll receive notifications when time is up, meaning that you truly have earned your study break.

3. COOKIE RUN: OVENBREAK

Since you’ve earned that study break, why not play an updated version of a classic app that’s also a little bit festive? The object of the game is to guide a gingerbread man through various obstacle courses, all while collecting points and letters to help earn lives throughout the game. With multiple different modes (including an endless mode), you’ll never run out of levels to play on this app. For those in the Holiday Spirit (but still stuck on campus), you will love the Christmas-themed levels. We all loved it when it first came out years ago, so why not give it another try?

4. SLEEP CYCLE ALARM CLOCK

Let’s be honest. During exam time, you’d be lucky to get a 5-hour sleep in between study sessions. With what limited time you have, you will definitely want to make the most of it. This app analyzes your sleeping pattern and finds the perfect time for you to wake up that will allow you to feel the most rested. In other words, it won’t wake you up in the middle of a sleep cycle. It allows you to define an approximate window of when you want to wake up, and will detect when you are in the lightest stage of sleep, waking you then. All you’ll need is your phone’s microphone to detect how you are sleeping, so it’s a cost effective way to get some better sleep. You’ve earned that 3-hour nap, you may as well make the most out of it.

5. FLASHCARDS WITH CRAM

When you’re on your way to your final exam, the last thing you want to drag through the snow with you is a huge backpack, loaded with notebooks, your laptop, and paper cue cards. Cram.com allows you to make cue cards easily from your computer, and download the set onto your phone from their app. Did you forget your laptop at home and FINALLY found a good spot in the library? That’s not a problem with this app. It will allow you to edit and review cue cards from all sets on your Cram account. Reviewing just got a lot simpler.

6. SWORKIT

Sitting down for hours reading and studying can be incredibly tiring, and going outside to go to the gym, go for a run, or whatever you find fun is not so fun with a foot of snow covering the ground. Thankfully, SWORKIT allows you to create your own workout cycle based on exactly what you want to work out for the amount of time you have to spare. This includes as little as 5 minutes. There is no equipment required outside of your floor (and maybe a chair if you feel you need one), so you are essentially able to move around in virtually any space. It also keeps track of workouts you’ve done in the past, and gives you detailed videos about how to do certain moves for beginners. Plus, physical exercise helps your brain and body, thus likely helping you out for exams. Woohoo!

With these 6 apps for your phone, you won’t need luck this exam season – it’ll just come naturally. Work hard and enjoy your holiday season!
