Music has the power to shape many lives. Listening to a song can drastically alter your mood either in a positive or negative way. Confidence is something we all have struggled with in one way or another so here is a shortlist of songs that I personally listen to if I’m not feeling my most confident.

 “Confident” by Demi Lovato

“What’s wrong with being confident?”

The trumpet at the beginning of the song really creates a statement for an upbeat and unique song. The title says it all, confidence makes you unstoppable.

 “Truth Hurts” by Lizzo

“I just took a DNA test, turns out I’m 100% that b****”

A popular post-breakup anthem, this song indirectly went viral when it was featured in the movie “Someone Great”. This song conveys the message that you don’t need a romantic partner to feel validated.

 “7 Rings” by Ariana Grande

“I see it, I like it, I want it, I got it”

Along with its iconic music video, it’s chill but also upbeat tone creates the ultimate girl anthem of this year. The video features a group of friends just being themselves, living their best lives and celebrating their achievements.

“Level Up” by Ciara

“Thank God I never settled, this view is so much better”

Levelling up means always working to be the best version of yourself. We always get stuck on blaming our flaws on being just who we are. It is important to realize there is always room for self-improvement and growth.

“Rise Up” by Andra Day

“I’ll rise up, In spite of the ache, I will rise a thousand times again”

This song is very close to my heart because I feel goosebumps every time I listen to it. Andra Day voice fits this song so perfectly in a way that no one else can sing it as well as she does.  The lyrics are motivating which is perfect to listen to when you are not feeling yourself.

The list can go on forever but these are just some of my favourites. I hope you have found some new songs to add to your playlist and that you can listen to whenever you’re feeling down.
