The 5 Best Hallmark-Style Holiday Movies of 2018 Thus Far

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Waterloo chapter.

I know Hallmark Christmas movies can be extremely cheesy. They all follow the same plot: two people start spending a lot of time together around the holidays, it takes them ages to admit they have feelings for each other, when they are finally ready to something pulls them apart, and it ends with them finding their way back to each other and admitting they are in love. But isn’t that why they make the perfect guilty pleasure around this time of year? With dozens of new Christmas movies coming out this year, it can be hard to decide which ones to watch (unless you are like me and just watch all of them).

Therefore, I have broken down the five best new Hallmark-style Christmas movies of 2018 so far!

1. Christmas Catch

A young female detective must go undercover to catch a handsome suspected jewel thief. However, no matter how hard she tries, she can’t help herself from falling for him.

2. The Christmas Contract

If you are a fan of One Tree Hill, then this Christmas movie will have some very familiar faces. Hilarie Burton (who played Peyton on OTH), plays a young woman who signs a contract with her best friend’s brother. She will design him a website for his new book as long as he comes home to Louisiana with her for the holidays to make her ex jealous.

3. Road to Christmas

IF you’re looking for yet another Christmas movie with another familiar face from OTH, then you are in luck. A young female producer is stuck working on an upcoming Christmas special with the host’s son, played by none other than Chad Michael Murray (who played Lucas in OTH). Even though they have a rocky start, they end up on an adventure that will help them find family, friendship, and, most importantly, love.

4. Christmas at Pemberley Manor

When a successful event planner from New York heads to a small town to help plan their Christmas Festival, things don’t go quite as she had planned. To make the festival a success, she will need help from a local billionaire, who is desperately lacking holiday spirit. Although he is reluctant, he begins to open up his heart to the festival, the holidays, and to her.

5. Pride, Prejudice. and Mistletoe

Darcy, a young, career-driven woman, finds herself back in the small town where she grew up in order to help her mom plan a Christmas charity gala. Little does she know that the caterer, Luke, is an old friend from high school and that being back home with her family and with Luke might help her find what she didn’t even know she was missing.

What is your favourite Christmas movie?
