What to Do This Month In Seattle Based on Your Zodiac Sign

The opinions expressed in this article are the writer’s own and do not reflect the views of Her Campus.
This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Washington chapter.

Your sign can say a lot about you; it can loosely describe your behavioral patterns, creature comforts, love languages—even the places you want to go. For college students, and non-students as well, January is a busy time often filled with stress and gloomy weather-induced isolation. However, there are many interesting things to see and do in the Seattle area if you’re willing to venture out and bear the cold. If you’re dead-set on staying in, though, that’s okay too. For those in need of winter activity inspiration, as well as a hint of astrological insight, this list has you covered.

1. Aries (March 21st – April 19th)

Axe throwing in Capitol Hill 📍 Blade & Timber

Address: 206 Broadway E, Seattle, WA 98102

As Aries is the first sign of the zodiac, and the youngest, it’s only right that they occupy the top of this list. This may seem stereotypical, i.e., throwing sharp objects around in aggressive fashion for the ‘angry’ sign, but this may prove to be a very satisfactory and wildly fun adventure for these free-spirits. It’s cold, dreary, and the lulls of school and work are in full effect; Aries is likely feeling quite restless in their current routine, and it’s often essential for them to release their stress and seasonal depression in a non-regrettable manner. Throwing axes around, safely and supervised for that matter, is the perfect outlet.

2. Taurus (April 20th – May 20th)

Visit the Fremont Troll 📍 Fremont Neighborhood

Address: N 36th St, Seattle, WA 98103

Taurus wrote the book on uniqueness, and their keen eye for the weird and idiosyncratic parts of the world is part of what makes them such interesting people to know. Right now, Taurus, ever so hard-working, may be feeling a bit stuck and in need of something fun to do to add some spice to their day-to-day diligence—visiting a giant sculpture installation under a bridge may do just the trick. This 18 ft. tall monster with a shiny metal eye and crushed Volkswagen Beetle in its left hand is quite the sight to behold, and a great spot for photos. Afterward, a walk around the water with all of its glorious boats and floating homes, a bite to eat, and a peruse around the many quirky storefronts the Fremont neighborhood has to offer make a great de-stress activity for Taurus, and everyone else.

3. Gemini (May 21st – June 21st)

Shop at the Georgetown Flea Market 📍 Georgetown Neighborhood

Address: 5805 Airport Way S, Seattle, WA 98108

Geminis are the famously indecisive twins, with a flair for timeless beauty and energy to boot. Taking a trip to a flea market, with a wide array of vendors offering a variety of items, is a perfectly exciting excursion which will likely satisfy the Gemini inclination towards shopping. The Georgetown Flea Market is one of the newest in Seattle, with many new independent creators setting up shop. Geminis love finding sentimental things to decorate their spaces, which can make them feel more at home and release stress. This flea market is worth stopping by!

4. Cancer (June 22nd – July 22nd)

Afternoon tea & treats in Bellevue 📍 FogRose Atelier

Address: 10606 NE 2nd St, Bellevue, WA 98004

There’s nothing a Cancer enjoys more than sharing delicious treats and heartwarming beverages with the people in their lives, and they love to indulge in elegance just as much. Paying a visit to FogRose in Bellevue is just as good, and less expensive, as a trip to the European countryside. Bring a friend and enjoy beautiful and delicious assortments of pastries, cakes, and ice creams in a posh and luxurious lounge with a spot of fragrant, artisanal teas. This should be just the trip to relieve the sensitive Cancer’s obligatory winter sorrow.

5. Leo (July 23rd – August 22nd)

Hot yoga 📍 CorePower Studios

Address: There are studios throughout Seattle, so visit their website and book a class near you!

Website: https://www.corepoweryoga.com/yoga-studio/all-locations/seattle

The powerful lion of the Zodiac, Leos bring a magnetic energy and fierceness with them wherever they go, and what better way to channel that fire and expel unwanted anxiety than a powerful hot yoga session? You don’t have to be a contortionist or an athlete to enjoy yoga, and the studio setting immerses the social Leo with other people in their community to practice with. Not to worry about expensiveness, as well, because CorePower even offers a free first week of classes to new participants, and regularly holds discounted sessions. So bring a bottle of water, let the boring assignments, work tasks, and other general anxieties go for an hour, and see how well you can hold Warrior II.

6. Virgo (August 23rd – September 22nd)

Thrifting in Pioneer District 📍 Pioneer Thrift

Address: 200 3rd Ave S, Seattle, WA 98104

Virgos are sentimental people who value beauty and functionality in their routines, which makes thrifting and antiquing a great outlet for these overachievers to personalize their spaces. Whether you’re looking for clothes, books, or fun little objects and home decor, a quaint independent thrift store with many different vintage and reused items, located in the heart of Downtown, is the perfect stop. Visit this thrift store to find beautiful second-hand goods, and afterward walk around the sprawling city, venture minutes away to the water and Pike Place, and enjoy this calming break from your obligations.

7. Libra (September 22nd – October 22nd)

Brunch in Capitol Hill 📍 Olmste(a)d

Address: 314 Broadway E, Seattle, WA

Libras are very social, and enjoy talking over drinks and comfort food with friends the afternoon after a fun night out. Olmste(a)d, located in the heart of Capitol Hill, serves a full brunch menu filled with some of the most delicious breakfast foods in Seattle, adding an upscale twist in the process. The interior is a striking teal with hints of light greens and pinks, plant covered walls, and large windows letting in the light, making for a vibrant retro vibe. This place will satisfy Libra’s craving for an adventure, and that French Toast will do the same for their senses. The atmosphere will recharge Libra’s essential bouncing energy, and add for a great photo opportunity as well.

8. Scorpio (October 23rd – November 21st)

Vintage movie screening 📍 Grand Illusion Cinema

Address: 1403 NE 50th St, Seattle, WA 98105

Scorpios are introspectives with a soft spot for nostalgia and passion for elegance, and may find watching movies a nice way to let off steam. Grand Illusion Cinema, Seattle’s oldest running movie theater, offers frequent classic and independent film screenings against a backdrop of historic vintage cinema decor. It’s the perfect place for a stylish and low-key outing, which suits Scorpio’s mysterious charm well. Take off your rainjacket, buy some popcorn, and de-stress with movies dating from the early 1930s to last month in a theater with enough obscure charm to last a lifetime—a great getaway for the passionate Scorpio.

9. Sagittarius (November 22nd – December 21st)

Visit Olympic Sculpture Park 📍 Downtown Seattle

Address: 2901 Western Ave, Seattle, WA 98121

Sagittarius knows how to have an outdoor adventure, no matter the weather, and has a unique appreciation for artistry. This park, located in downtown Seattle is set against the backdrop of the sprawling city, marked with various monumental sculptures and works across its vast nine acres. If you’re willing to risk getting rained on, this is the perfect kind of metropolitan outdoor adventure to calm nerves and provide some breathtaking sights and views. Everyone will enjoy what this beautiful park has to offer, not only the enigmatic and curious Sagittarius.

10. Capricorn (December 22nd – January 19th)

Visit Museum of Popular Culture 📍 Uptown Seattle

Address: 325 5th Ave N, Seattle, WA 98109

In a similar vein to the previous museum suggestion, the Museum of Popular Culture is a perfect outing for the knowledgeable and tasteful Capricorn. MoPOP differs from the aforementioned destination in that it is an indoor immersive museum dedicated entirely to contemporary popular culture. Whether or not you’re well-versed in pop culture, or even that regularly interested in it, this is an experience worth making the trip for. It covers and houses some of the most legendary cultural touchstones of the past 100 years, from Jimi Hendrix to the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and even holds movie screenings. It’s an intellectually stimulating and fun walk down memory lane and a great weekend activity for the eccentric and clever Capricorn.

11. Aquarius (January 20th – February 18th)

Take a stroll around Gasworks Park 📍 Lake Union

Address: 2101 N Northlake Way, Seattle, WA 98103

Gasworks Park illustrates Aquarius’ energy perfectly: an unexpectedly beautiful blend of contrasting factors. With a waterfront view of the Seattle skyline seated on a hill and on the former Seattle Gas Light Company plant, this park offers some of the most unique sights in all of Seattle. The remains of the factory serve as historical memorabilia as well as monkey bars for children, and people often prefer to picnic on the grass when it’s dry out. Although, you may want to put on your jacket and prepare for rain while on your visit now. Aquarius is innovative, non-conforming, and striking, loving places which serve as creative inspiration. Gasworks has everything a bored Aquarius is looking for—for free, too!

12. Pisces (February 19th – March 20th)

Learn how to crochet 📍 At home!

As promised, not everything on this list must be done outside the comfort of home, even though this is the only suggestion here. While Pisces enjoys going out on the town just as much as any other sign, they also can take a lot of comfort in staying in and sharpening up a particular hobby. This may be a bit biased towards the author’s own aspirations, but picking up a creative craft like crochet can be great for stress relief and brain stimulation. Not to mention, you get something cool to use out of it in the end. Pisces can often get caught up in their own head and dwell too much on stressful deadlines or social encounters, so a thoughtful and enjoyable hobby to regularly engage in can be essential for their well-being. This is a sign for anyone to take a deep breath, get cozy, and try something new for fun. When in doubt, ask the internet!
