While the winter season can bring joys like snow days and the holidays with family, there is also a downside to this cold, winter weather up here in Washington: dry skin. As the weather gets colder and the air gets drier, I find myself more and more prone to crusty, flaky skin—not cute. So, if you find that you are anything like me and you can’t stand the dry skin and chapped lips that come with winter, here are my three essentials that might help you too:

Glossier After Baume

My number-one, must-have cream. While we’ve all likely seen Glossier before as a TikTok-famous, aesthetic skincare brand, I can assure you that this cream is worth the hype. This heavy moisturizer is fragrance-free, vegan, and approved by the National Eczema Association, so you know it’s got to be good. As an avid user, I have found that this cream keeps my skin bright and hydrated, and doesn’t even leave an oily feeling; I could not recommend it more!

Vaseline Lip Therapy Rosy Lips

What better brand for dry skin than Vaseline itself? In case you haven’t seen, Vaseline has it’s own lip balm line, called Vaseline Lip Therapy. The Rosy Lips lip balm in this line is my personal favorite. It’s moisturizing and soft, and leaves a nice pink sheen. Whenever my lips are chapped (which is often these days), I find myself reaching for this lip balm. Plus, it comes in both stick and tub form, so you can buy whichever one you fancy!

Aveeno Skin Relief Hand Cream

Of course, the first thing to get dry in this weather will be your hands, with all of the hand-washing we do (especially now in the season of COVID). In order to keep my hands nice and healthy, I love this Aveeno Skin Relief Intense Moisture Hand Cream. Aveeno is known as a moisturizer giant, and I can safely say that this hand cream proves it. Definitely intensely moisturizing, this hand cream is fragrance free, lasts through hand washes, and contains prebiotic oat.

I hope this short list of my essentials helps you keep your skin hydrated and soft this winter season! Be safe out there in the cold, Huskies.
