On September 22, 2017, rumors began flying that Kylie Jenner was pregnant and the world went wild. Everywhere, people were taking sides on whether the pregnancy was real or if it was all just a publicity stunt. Conspiracy theories spiraled out of control, like Kylie was actually Kim and Kanye’s surrogate. The deeper her pregnancy went, the deeper the conspiracies became.

Kylie Jenner is one of the most followed celebrities on Instagram, as well as one of the most influential girls in the world. She has been in the spotlight since a very young age and used it to her advantage.

Then suddenly she stopped posting current photos on Instagram and started posting more and more throwbacks, causing more speculation that she really was pregnant. She teased her fans endlessly with pictures like cinnamon buns, causing some people to theorize that she was hinting she had a “bun in the oven.”

After months of driving her fans crazy, she finally gave birth to a healthy baby girl who she named Stormi on February 1, 2018.

Kylie Jenner once said that the day she became a mother was the day she would log off all social media and just live her life. Although that is probably highly unlikely to happen at this point in her life, the fact that she chose to keep her pregnancy a secret shows immense maturity.

She spent six months under the radar and away from the spotlight, not only because she wanted to, but because she knew that was what she needed to stay healthy, mentally. Mental health, especially during times like pregnancies, should be taken seriously.

Women are at a greater mental health risk during times of pregnancy. Pregnancy can lead to conditions such as depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder.

Anyone and everyone wanted the deets on Kylie’s pregnancy, but the poor girl just wanted a private, peaceful pregnancy and to keep to herself.

And to be honest, we should have respected that wish. At only 20-years-old, Kylie has spent the majority of her life in the public eye. All her life choices have been up to scrutiny by the public and she never really got a chance to be a real kid, so we should give her the opportunity to be a real mother the way she wants to be.

These past six months has been one wild ride, but Kylie is about to go through a much wilder one with her daughter.

Congratulations to Kylie and her family!

And if you or someone you know is going through a tough pregnancy, know that you aren’t alone.

Don’t try to make major changes in your life unless you have to. Pregnancy is already a major change, and your body can only handle so much both physically and mentally.

Keep physically active. Exercise has been researched to correlate with release of dopamine in the brain, resulting in a happier life.

Eat regular and healthy meals.

Make connections with other expectant parents to surround yourself with a support group.

Remember that to keep your child happy and healthy, you have to stay happy and healthy too.

Remember to not expect too much from yourself. Pregnancy can be scary and intimidating, but it is also one of the most beautiful events in life.
