I Watched TATBILB: Always and Forever, So You Don’t Have To

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Washington chapter.

Valentine’s Day has come and gone, which means Netflix has released the third and final To All The Boys movie, To All The Boys: Always and Forever. My roommate and I agreed to watch it so that we never have to watch Noah Centineo play himself while everyone else acts around him again. Jokes aside, we had fun watching it and I didn’t necessarily hate it.

While I would love to spoil every detail and plot twist of this Netflix original for you, I think it would be better to just give you an overall opinion and review on the movie itself.

Overall, it’s not horrible. It’s unquestionably better than the second movie, but doesn’t top the original. If you’re watching the To All The Boys films, you probably aren’t on the hunt for a cinematic masterpiece, but rather for something cute and cozy. The first movie accomplished that, the second fell flat, and this one mostly made me roll my eyes, but had a few fuzzy moments. If you still feel connected to the characters after the tragedy that was To All The Boys: P.S. I Still Love You, you’ll probably like this movie and might even be open to rewatching it. I, however, felt more annoyed by the characters’ flaws than compelled to see their arcs and developments at this point in the trilogy.

But the question remains: should you watch it? I’d say yes, given that you’ve already seen the previous two. It provides an ending to the story, and since this is the final film, you can watch it and never worry about Peter Kavinsky and Lara Jean ever again (it’s a reassuring feeling). If you haven’t watched the first sequel, do yourself a favor and don’t watch either of them. Stick to the original To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before because ignorance is bliss.
