After waiting all year long for the bliss of Seattle summers (yes, it’s good enough to make all that rain worth it), of course you want to make the most of these few sunshine-y months. Add these activities to your summer bucket list so you always have an adventure around the corner.

Celebrate the Fourth of July

Every July 4th, Seafair puts on an impressive firework display over Lake Union, with some of the best views being from Gas Works Park.

Attend Bite of Seattle

Bite of Seattle is the city’s largest food festival. This year, it takes place between July 19th to the 21st.

Cheer on the Sounders

Did you know that Seattle is home to one of the best MLS teams in the western conference? See when the Sounders are playing next: here.

Go to Capitol Hill Block Party

Marketed as “the best weekend of summer” is the 3-day music festival Capitol Hill Block Party, which takes place in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood. This year’s headliners include RL Grime, Lizzo, and Phantogram.

Visit Bainbridge Island

Take the ferry across Elliott Bay and make a day trip to Bainbridge Island.

Go to Bumbershoot

Bumbershoot is an annual 3-day music and arts festival that takes place at the Seattle Center every year during Labor Day weekend. This year’s lineup includes The Lumineers, Louis the Child, and Tyler, The Creator.

Watch an outdoor movie

Some popular venues include Movies at the Mural at the Seattle Center and Movies at Marymoor in Redmond.

Go to the beach

There is arguably no better activity to do in the summer than to simply lay out in the sun on a beach. I mean, it’s simple, it’s easy, and it’s free. It can’t be beat. In Seattle, Golden Gardens, Alki, and Madison Park Beach are all great options for when you want nothing more than to have a lazy, summer day.
