As we near the end of spring quarter here at UW, it’s finally time to start gearing up for summer. I don’t know about you, but one of my favorite parts of summer is the relaxed, refreshed, and just overall happy vibes. From sunshine and beaches to ice cream and fun trips, summer and summer vacation are a time to finally stop being a student for a while and take some time for yourself. Of course, you’ll need some great recipes to start you on your summer-fun journey; here are 5 smoothie recipes you can use to really get into the summer spirit:

Pineapple-Mango-Strawberry Smoothie

(Makes 3-4 smoothies)

Ingredients:

1.5 cups frozen mango

1 cup frozen strawberries

1 cup frozen pineapple

2 cups orange juice

1 cup vanilla yogurt

Recipe: Throw all ingredients in a blender and blend away! You may need to stir by hand a bit since the frozen fruits tend to get stuck.

Summer Green Smoothie

(Makes 2 smoothies)

Ingredients:

0.5 cups unsweetened almond milk

0.5 cups honey yogurt

2 frozen bananas, cut up

3 cups baby spinach

Recipe: Throw all ingredients into a blender and mix it up!

Raspberry-Pomegranate Smoothie

(Makes 4 smoothies)

Ingredients:

2.5 cups frozen raspberries

2 frozen bananas, cut up

1 cup pomegranate juice

1.5 cups orange juice

1.5 cups unsweetened almond milk

Recipe: Throw all ingredients in a blender and blend away! Stop and stir by hand if frozen fruits get stuck, add more liquids if too thick.

Strawberry-Peach Smoothie

(Makes 2 smoothies)

Ingredients:

0.5 cup coconut water

0.5 cup coconut yogurt

1 cup strawberries

0.5 cup frozen peaches

Recipe: Again, put all ingredients in the blender and blend until smooth!

Watermelon Smoothie

(Makes 2 smoothies)

Ingredients:

3 cups frozen watermelon cubes

1 cup frozen strawberries

0.5 cup vanilla Greek yogurt

0.5 tablespoon honey

0.5 cup water or unsweetened almond milk

0.25 cup fresh mint leaves

Recipe: Put all ingredients in the blender and mix! Add more water/almond milk if too thick.

Of course, most of these smoothies can also made into smoothie bowls if that’s more your thing. Key thing is to always have some frozen fruit in your fridge so you can make smoothies at any time! We hope this list gives you some inspiration in planning all of the fun treats you’ll make for yourself this summer. Don’t forget that eating healthy is important, but it can always be good to treat yourself sometimes! We hope this makes you excited for summer season and gives you just a little motivation to finish the quarter strong!
