World Whale Day!!

Every year, the third Saturday of the year is known as World Whale Day! On this day, people all across the globe celebrate these magnificent animals and spread awareness about the creatures.

In honor of this day, I’ve created a “top 5 whales list”.

  1. Beluga whale

These whales are ADORABLE. They have really high pitched-calls and a “melonhead”. Sadly, they are now faced with alteration of their habitat due to climate change and melting Arctic ice.

  1. Blue whale

Blue whales are awesome because they are the largest animals known to have ever existed. It is up to 29.9 meters in length, the length of 3 school buses.

  1. Narwhal

Narwhals are unique types of whales because they have tusks! Medieval Europeans used to believe that narwhal tusks were the horns from legendary unicorns.

  1. Fin Whale

Fin whales are the second largest animal in the world, second to blue whales! Fin whales are awesome because they have a lifespan of about 94 years of age, and some have even been found at 135-140 years of age.

  1. Bowhead Whale

Bowhead whales have a TRIANGULAR skull! This skull is used to break through Arctic ice. Also, they have paired blowholes that can blow water up to 6 meters high!
