As a die hard T-Swift fan, it is almost nauseating for me to make such a rigid statement. But, I have fallen in love with this new era. She has brought everything that has ever made her music great into one succinct, passionate, light-hearted, lyrical, pop masterpiece.

For those who are anything but fans of Swift, this might be hard to believe, and most probably nauseating to endure. However, hear me out:

Swift is the queen of lyrics. She never fails to deliver in that realm, and her seventh album is no exception. With lines like, “Paper cut stings from my paper thin plans” and “All’s well that ends well to end up with you”, her poetic skills are clear. She covers every angle of love, the ups and downs, the millions of emotions and does so with the romance and grace she is known for.

From the beginning, Swift was calculated in her approach to and presentation of this album. The first single released off of Lover was “Me”, a colorful, eclectic, pop tune that perfectly sums up the essence of the album in one song. The music video paired with the song was fun, upbeat, and whimsical, and included the easter eggs that Swift fans are so used to looking for. If nothing else, Swift is diligent.

I have listened to this album almost everyday since it was released, and I have yet to get tired of it. Looking for your next bitch-be-gone anthem? Listen to “You Need To Calm Down” or even “I Forgot That You Existed”. Both have maturity and poise, but clearly call out haters on their BS. For your next female empowerment song, look no further than “The Man”. Swift delves into all her experiences as a woman in the music industry, but her message is universal. Looking for classic love songs? There are plenty on this album, and everything in between.

Not only this, but Lover’s coherence thematically and instrumentally is unparalleled as compared to her previous albums. Every song has a purpose, and like a piece of the puzzle fits perfectly into the holistic picture of the album.

With untouchable lyrics, get-stuck-in-your-head melodies, and a confidence and strong voice to boot, this album is a must-listen.
