College is undeniably stressful and can cause a lot of anxiety for a lot of people. Which is why, it is super important to unwind and relax and do a bit of self care so you feel less overwhelmed and burdened.

Some things I love doing to take time off and get into a better and a more relaxed mindset are –

Making myself a hot cup of tea – Especially with the cold weather officially set in, nothing is more relaxing and warming than a cup of hot tea. My personal favourite is earl grey with a scary amount of honey in it!

Making a holiday spotify playlist – It’s officially holiday season and that means a holiday playlist to set the tone! Nothing is more relaxing than listening to music and making yourself a cheery little playlist.

Journaling – Jotting down things I’m grateful for, no matter how small really elevates me and puts things into perspective. It helps me see the small things in life that make me happy and makes everything seem that much more simple.

Cleaning your room – This obviously might not be a fan favourite, but something that really helps me relax is playing some music on my speakers and cleaning my room. Having a clean environment around me puts me in a better headspace and makes me feel less anxious.

There are so many more activities you could do to feel more relaxed and less anxious, and it is really important to focus on at least one self care activity a day. Grades and extracurriculars might be important for you, but nothing is more important than your mental health and the only person that can take care of it best is you.
