Spring Trends of 2013 (On a College Girl’s Budget)

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wash U chapter.

This spring, there are several trends that I’ve been dying to try out. From tailored shorts to statement sunglasses, many of these must-have pieces are pricey (to say the least).  I have searched high and low for the “look for less,” and here is your affordable guide to the hottest looks of spring 2013.

1. Cutouts

SAVE: Naven 2Toned Cut Out Dress ($276, Naven.com

STEAL: Nasty Gal Julep Cut-Out Dress ($42, Nastygal.com)

2. Statement Sunglasses

SAVE: Prada Baroque Round Sunglasses ($290, Sunglasshut.com)

STEAL: Urban Outfitters Highline Sunglasses ($16, urbanoutfitters.com)

3. Tailored Shorts

SAVE: Rebecca Taylor Pleated Silk Shorts ($225, rebeccataylor.com

STEAL: Asos Belted Shorts with Turn Up ($36.58, asos.com)

Following the trends is fun and exciting, but the majority of college girls can’t casually drop hundreds of dollars on a pair of shorts or sunglasses, so I hope these suggestions inspire you to not only give the pricey spring trends a chance, but also to search for more chic and affordable items on your own.
