If 2020 has done one positive thing for me, it reawakened the complete book nerd in me. Going from reading a book or two each day in middle school, to doing nothing but reading to study in high school, I started to feel burned out by something that once brought me so much joy. Then in March, life asked us all the question, “ What at would you do if you had all the time in the world?”
I answered proudly: with a cup of coffee (whipped, per quarantine style) and a book.
To all my bookworms or just a girl looking for a recommendation to get out of a reading slump, here are my top ten quarantine reads:
- The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett
- Americanized: Rebel Without a Green Card by Sara Saedi
- Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid
- Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens
- Normal People by Sally Rooney
- Red White and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston
- A Good Neighborhood by Therese Anne Fowler
- Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman
- Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng
- Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson
Honorable mention: All three of the Millenium series books by Stieg Larsson, all 7 of the Harry Potter Books, and Born a Crime by Trevor Noah
