Online Shopping Guide!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wash U chapter.

Saint Louis isn’t exactly a fashion capital. From what I’ve heard, there is only one Chanel store in the entire Saint Louis city. I mean, even if Saint Louis did have more malls, or just more places to shop, for those of us who live on campus and do not own cars, it’s like a pie in the sky… However, we have something that is more glorious than a big, fat, mall—even more glorious than a big, fat, outlet mall: The Internet. I have been living in a dormitory in the States since 2003. Let’s just say I can list 50 online shopping websites off my head. Instead of keeping such invaluable information to myself, I’ve decided to make an online shopping guide for fellow shopaholics. WashU will no longer be synonymous to shopping withdrawal!

Free shipping designer brand:
www.tobi.com (both sexes)
– I love their ‘events.’ Great offers! Oh, and they have great sales!

www.revolveclothing.com (both sexes)
– Has a wide price range!
www.shopbop.com
– So well organized and has probably the widest range of selection! Fastest shipping ever!
www.blacklabelboutique.com
– I’ve only shopped here once. They sometimes carry stuff that’s sold out in other places.
www.chickdowntown.com
– I think they’re owned by net-a-porter

Flat rate shipping but with frequent promotions:
www.ssense.com(both sexes)
– They’re actually Canadian so shipping takes a while. But they still have a lot of great stuff!
www.singer22.com
– They have pictures of celebrities wearing their stuff!
A bit more unique:
www.nastygal.com
– I’ve always wanted to try their vintage stuff!
www.oaknyc.com(both sexes)
– Ultimate NY style. HOT
www.pixiemarket.com
– They carry both generic and unique stuff!
www.modcloth.com
– Very cutsie and girly!
www.etsy.com
– A lot of their stuff is one-of-a-kind and hand-made!!
www.moxsie.com
– They carry independent fashion designers clothing and jewelry. So. Cool.
www.svpply.com
– You get to create your own profile and they cater to your style! They don’t have their own stuff but they have everything from everywhere! (It’s a little hard to explain- but I guarantee you’ll love this website)

High-end designer brands:
www.forwardforward.com
– Run by the revolveclothing company but just very expensive and high-end.
www.netaporter.com
– Probably my favorite high-end website. I just like how it’s organized!
www.largarconne.com
– I’ve only recently discovered this place (through svpply, but I think I’m already in love)
www.intermixonline.com
– If you subscribe to their ‘Lust List’ now you’ll get 15% off your next purchase!
www.elysewalker.com
– You can get great deals on their sale section!

British shopping websites:
www.topshop.com
– Reasonable price, but great quailty!!
www.asos.com
– Lots of promotions! And SO cute.

Online discount websites:
www.gilt.com
– I love how just 4 years ago when I first discovered gilt, they only had women’s and one designer a day. They now have gilt womens, mens, home, baby, city, and jetsetter. Oh, and recently they started their wedding section.  Major testament to the quality of their stuff. Oh, I’ve even gotten things like gourmet chocolate and cheese from gilt.
www.bluefly.com
– I love getting basic things from here since I never want to pay retail price for things like… underwear or solid color cashmere scarf. Bluefly is one of my go-to websites.
www.hautelook.com
– Kinda like gilt, but they carry less expensive things.
www.swirl.com
– I love swirl by Dailycandy! It’s my daily candy (Ha.. ha…).
www.ruelala.com
– Again, kinda like gilt. But sometimes they have really nice vintage things (vintage Chanel, Valentino, etc)
www.renttherunway.com
– Great, great place to go for your upcoming formal or even just a fancy date. They rent out designer dresses and accessories! You know you never want to wear the same cocktail dress twice, so why not rent out a stunning Herve Leger dress?

I hope this helps! I had a hard time deciding which ones to include, but I think I’ve listed plenty. It’s always nice to give yourself a little reward after an exam. But since at WashU we have major assignments practically every other day, after every exam may not be the best idea. I don’t want to bankrupt anyone… So, all you shopaholics— remember, moderation is key!
