King Princess: Our New Queen

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wash U chapter.

King Princess: Our New Queen

Okay, so maybe I’m a little late to the bandwagon with this one, but after seeing her in concert, I have become obsessed. King Princess is cool, funky, and most importantly,  real. Her music has a refreshing sound, with blends of rock, pop, and indie genres, and her vocals and “cool-girl” attitude are unparalleled. In an industry populated by somewhat homogeneous pop records, she takes her own route and does so with confidence.

Seeing her in concert gave me a whole new perspective, too. On stage, she is so captivating, but without gimmicks. The whole concert, she danced (of course sang) and just had fun, occasionally playing the piano or the guitar while doing so. Her presence was always unassuming, approachable, and yet stunning. She is edgy and entertaining, but not at all intimidating. I was absolutely amazed.

I would highly recommend checking out her music, especially some of my favorites:

  1. Upper West Side

  2. 1950

  3. Prophet

  4. Hit The Back

  5. You Destroyed My Heart
