Five Easy Halloween Decor Ideas

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wash U chapter.

It’s hard to believe it, but Halloween is just around the corner, and what better way to get into the holiday spirit than by decorating your dorm? I know what you’re thinking, “I have neither the time nor the money to do a room makeover.” Not to worry! These crafts are fun, easy, and cheap to make. Your room will instantly become the envy of your entire floor.  Take a break and check out these six ways to instantly transform your boring dorm into a spooky haunted house.

1. Tissue Paper Ghosts

Give your front door some flair with these cute paper ghosts. Take a piece of tissue paper and crumple it up.  Wrap and tie another piece of paper around the first tissue using a hair elastic. Finish off your ghost by drawing a face and hang your new ghouls on your front door!

2. Pumpkins

Nothing says Halloween like carving pumpkins. However, finding the time to carve a pumpkin is not in the Wash U time budget. If you don’t have the time, use sharpie to draw on a face instead. Schnucks has pumpkins, so grab one while they last.

3.  Creepy Crawly Spider Ice Cubes

Spice up your drinks with this easy project. Put plastic spiders in ice trays and fill them up with water. Let them freeze and you have spider ice cubes! Fill yourself a festive glass of cider and enjoy your drink in style.

4. Ghoul Jugs

Too lazy to recycle your milk cartons? No problem! Clean your old milk cartons and take off the wrapper. Use a sharpie to draw faces on the sides and line them along your desk and windows. If you’re feeling extra creative, get some fake candles and put them inside to light up your window at night!

5. Candy Corn Lights

Everyone loves Christmas lights. Take this traditionally wintry decoration and use it for Halloween. Wal-Mart sells cheap 100-light sets. String them around your room for a festive feel!
