Finding Your Fashion Inspiration

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wash U chapter.

With winter right around the corner, it’s easy for even the most fashionable of collegiettes to throw on a sweatshirt and leggings and call it a day. Yet dressing fashionably, even in the cold, is easier than you think. Stumped for ideas? Check out these websites to jumpstart your creativity and transform your look:

1)   The Sartorialist

Arguably one of the best street style blogs on the web, The Sartorialist is the brainchild of blogger and photographer Scott Schuman. Since its inception, The Sartorialist has featured everyday fashion stars from New York to New Delhi, and everywhere in between. With an endless scroll of street-ready outfit ideas for girls and guys, The Sartorialist is the perfect inspiration for a fashionista with a flair for the international.

2)   Lookbook.nu

Lookbook.nu focuses on individual’s everyday fashion, but instead of having a single person compile looks, the site allows anyone to upload their own street fashion photos. The site features users from many countries around the world, and has endless photos showing anything from the grunge trend for girls to formal looks for guys. Best part? Because it is user-based, the photos are constantly coming in—and will constantly be timely, making it easy to find outfits to match the season.

3)   Who What Wear

While this site focuses on “celebrity style and fashion trend coverage,” Who What Wear is the perfect website for collegiettes who like to stay on top of their Hollywood and designer fashion trends. It will keep you up-to-date on the season’s trends and on what celebrities are wearing (and how you can too!). And it even has its own street style blog! For the girl looking to be one trend ahead of the college crowd, Who What Wear is the perfect site to stay chic.

4)   College Fashionista

Like happiness, sometimes the best fashion can be found in your own backyard—on campus! College students can provide a great source of fashion inspiration, and College Fashionista gets its inspiration from campuses across the nation and compiles it neatly in one place. You can search by school or by trend to see what real college students are wearing to classes, parties, and everything in between!

5)   Wash U Styleta

No one knows Wash U students better than Wash U students, so it only makes sense that Wash U Styleta would be a perfect source of fashion tips and tricks! Not only does it provide a variety of posts and photos with (weather-appropriate) style inspiration, but it also shares photos of people, fashion, and fashionable events on campus—giving you a perfect opportunity to show off the trends they suggested!

When it comes to fashion, ditch the drab, be inspired, and inspire others. Who knows, with these tips and tricks, maybe one day you’ll end up as inspiration yourself!
