4 Ways to Stay in Touch This Summer

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wash U chapter.

School is coming to an end and all of us are excited for the summer! With everyone adjusting to their new summer schedules and spending lots of time with their friends from home, it is easy to forget about making an effort to keep in touch with your college friends. Here are four easy ways to make sure you stay in touch.

1.     Skype Dates: Make your friends a part of your schedule. Set aside an hour each week to have a Skype date with your friends and catch up. This is a great way to have dinner together or just chat even if you are states away. Plus, it’s free and really easy to use!

2.     Pick Up The Phone: Never underestimate the old-fashioned phone call. While texting might be easier, a lot more gets accomplished in a few minutes on the phone than hours of texting. When you are walking to or from work or whenever you have a spare moment, pick up the phone and dial a friend.

3.     Create a Private Facebook Group: This may seem like a lot of effort, but creating a private Facebook group could be a great way for a group of friends to keep in touch. You can post pictures of your summers, tell funny stories, or share your problems. It is a simple and easy way to stay up-to-date on each other’s lives.

4.     Plan A Visit: If you have the time on a weekend it’s never too late to plan a meet up with your college friends. Even if your friends live far away, use this as the perfect excuse for a road trip! If closer, there are cheap buses and trains to bring you together.
