Please tell us a bit about yourself.
I’m from Shiga Prefecture in Kansai. I was born and raised in Japan but my parents used to take me abroad every year for 2 months during my summer holidays in primary school. I lived in Brisbane, Australia for 3 years during high school. I also did one year abroad in New York (New York University) using the Waseda exchange program.
What is your hobby?
This may sound weird but my hobby is to keep busy. I always keep a minute to minute schedule and am almost never home. In the rare spare time I have I like to listen to music and take aerial lessons. I used to be a cheerleader and kind of a circus performer.
I heard you do modeling as your job, what made you get into the industry and how are you balancing it with school?
When I first came to Tokyo I was scouted by one of the people who work at hair salons and it kind of kicked off from there. I always try to prioritise study over jobs, but it is getting harder. But I would never put a shoot during exam block, so that’s kind of how I keep balance.
What is your dream?
My dream is to become an events producer in New York, so I did intern at an event company this summer. I also want to work in the Music industry. I don’t know what I want to do because it keeps changing… but I just know I want to work somewhere in the creative industries.
Thanks, Maya!
