Winter Is Coming: Your Ultimate Fashion Show Stage

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wake Forest chapter.

Are people ready for the winter yet? Because it is almost here in Winston-Salem! Even if you’re not a winter person, there is one thing good that I can tell you about it—it is the best time of the year to show off your fashion styles! This is simply because in winter there can be more layers and thus there will be so many more choices. Here’s some elements in winter that I really like:

1. Knee-high boots

From last year or so, knee-high boots have been taking over the world. They are simply the prettiest shoes that are suitable for everyone. You can wear those with a short jean skirt and instantly turn your summer styles into winter styles. You can also wear them with a long sleeve dress or a sweater dress, and they keep your legs warm too! My favorite look would be wearing these boots with a contrast color pants underneath, for example, jeans with black knee-high boots. The reason that these boots are so precious is that you can only wear them during winter, and now it is finally that time!

2. Scarves

I love wearing scarves in winter, especially those that are round and big and comfy. While keeping your neck super warm from the strong winds, they add a highlight to your outfit and adjust your proportion a little bit. You can either put them around your neck or have one or two ends down. I love wearing them especially when there is not a hood or when I’m wearing a sweatshirt.

3. Beanies

Beanies are for both girls and guys, and they will look just equally good! For me, I would want to wear some statement or long earrings while wearing beanies. One thing to consider, however, is your hairstyle. Wearing a beanie might mean that you can’t take it off the entire day because your hair will be flattened. And a beanie might not look the same for different hair styles, too.

4. Leather jacket

This is more for the autumn, but it is so much of a “must” that I think every girl should have one of these! Colors such as burgundy, yellow, dark green or pink would show your unique personality for sure. But even if you choose the typical black leather jacket, it will add so much on the impression you give to other people. Definitely a confidence booster, I would say!
