By now you are familiar with WIN and all of its resources. You have also probably heard of WIN stalking. But do you know how to stalk like a pro? Do you know how helpful stalking can be? And I don’t mean in a creepy way.

In the top right hand corner of WIN, you will see a tab called Directories. Click on it. It will take you to a page where you can type in the name of the person you are stalking, and their position at Wake Forest: student, faculty, etc. Once you type in their name, depending on how much information you gave, WIN will either take you to that specific person, or give you a list of options.

When stalking other students, this can be very helpful because WIN provides their picture, dorm, email address, and possibly even their phone number. If they are an upperclassman, WIN will also tell you their major. Note: If you are concerned about other people having too much or too little information about you, you can change your settings under the Personal tab. Other than stalking the cute guy who sits next to you in math, though, WIN is also very helpful when trying to find information about your professors. If you search a professor’s name, WIN will tell you their email, possibly their phone number, where their office is, and sometimes their office hours.

WIN can be a very helpful tool and definitely should be utilized. It is much easier to learn more about your teachers and friends than Facebook, and it’s safe and secure.. Remember to be aware of how much of your personal information is out on the web, because you might not want some other student finding out what your dorm number is!
