Shop Sustainable Beauty This Holiday Season

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wake Forest chapter.

With December 25th right around the corner, I’m sure that most college students are currently spending their free time working on a Christmas list for their parents. As the annual Sephora sale comes to an end, I’m here to recommend eco-friendly beauty products that can help reduce our Earth’s carbon footprint. My latest makeup routine consists of Ilia cosmetics which includes a variety of products like mascara, blush, foundation, and even skincare. The brand launched in 2011 and it uses solely recycled materials for packaging which creates an eco-conscious manufacturing process. In addition, the products are biodegradable and don’t  harm aquatic life when washed off due to the brand’s clean ingredients. Ilia has proven to be a company that truly cares about our environment and its inhabitants because they do not test on animals and refuse to sell their makeup in countries where animal testing is required. The company even donates a portion of their sales to important environmental causes such as reforestation. They have partnered with One Tree Planted, a charity organization that plants trees in areas of different countries that have been affected by fires, droughts, and floods. Ilia is leading the industry in clean beauty right now and continuously setting high standards for other cosmetic brands. I encourage all of you to make the switch to sustainable beauty this holiday season. The products will leave your skin feeling rejuvenated and enhance your makeup routine all the while helping to protect our precious planet.

Wake Forest '26

Hi! I’m a sophomore at Wake Forest University, and I’m from Ringgold, Georgia. I plan on majoring in Psychology and minoring in Spanish. My hobbies include hanging out with friends, playing volleyball, and volunteering at places like Campus Kitchen and Forsyth Humane Society. I’m really excited to be joining HerCampus and writing articles for women in my community! I’ve always loved reading the pieces on this website written by fellow students, and I hope that my work will inspire others too!
