PREVIEW: The 2011 Breast Cancer Fashion Show’s Hottest Boutiques, Designers & Models

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wake Forest chapter.

Coming up on Monday, November 7 is the Wake Forest event that everyone’s been talking about. It’s the perfect occasion for both girls – it’s all about fashion – and boys – it’s all about boobies. It’s the 16th annual Breast Cancer Fashion Show! The fashion show will take place in Benson next Monday evening, and it’s an event you won’t want to miss.  Sponsored every year by Panhellenic Council, the runway will feature your best friends from every sorority dressed up in Winston-Salem’s finest. And even better, all the proceeds will be donated to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation.

In preparation for the big event, Her Campus is delighted to provide all of you collegiettes™ with our shopping guide to this year’s Breast Cancer Fashion Show. We know that you’ll be impressed by so many of the pieces featured in the show, so here is a sneak peek of where you can buy them! Just think of it as an early Christmas present to yourself … hey, it’s never too early to get into the holiday spirit, right?!

Bevello

One of the wonderful Winston-Salem boutiques that will be featured in the show is Bevello. Conveniently located just a few minutes away on Stratford, this shop is always well stocked with apparel and accessories by some of collegiettes’™ favorite designers, including BCBG, Max and Cleo, Michael Kors and French Connection. You’ll be seeing chic Bevello pieces all throughout the Breast Cancer Fashion show, including the fabulous fur vest on TriDelta’s gorgeous model Susan Upton! Trend alert: adding touches of fur to any outfit, by way of a fur-trimmed collar or fur vest, is very in right now. Be sure to go check out Bevello’s stock ASAP!

Lara’s Favorite Things

Lara’s Favorite Things, a brand-new clothing and accessories shop that just opened up in downtown Winston-Salem, has tons of adorable pieces in this year’s show. The Burke Street boutique features trendy clothes, shoes, bags and jewelry by popular designers such as Alice & Trixie, Karina Grimaldi and Toss Designs. Something even more special about Lara’s Favorite Things is their unique rent-the-runway-style program; fashionistas can “borrow” designer dresses for up to two weeks at just a fraction of the original cost. Lara’s even does the dry cleaning for you! Still not convinced? Check out Kappa Beta Gamma’s model Meghan Wood on the runway looking stunning in an emerald and black cocktail dress paired with a black jacket and black leather belt, all from Lara’s Favorite Things. It’s a perfect look for a chilly, but chic winter night on the town!

Monkee’s

Located literally a few steps away in Reynolda Village, Monkee’s is definitely an classic Wake favorite. Filled to the brim with trends from high-end designers such as Milly, Diane Von Furstenburg and Tory Burch, I know I don’t have to say much to convince Wake collegiettes™ to head over to Monkee’s for a shopping spree. If you’ve somehow missed the greatness that is Monkee’s until now, there’s no way you’ll be able to resist the temptation after seeing all the gorgeous pieces featured in the Breast Cancer Fashion Show. Look for Kappa Delta’s dazzling model Ellen Dicus strutting her stuff in a navy blue dress and a gorgeous Tory Burch cross-body bag, both from Monkee’s.
