Parent’s weekend is fast approaching and there’s one thing on all our minds: food. Sure, getting to see your parents and show them around campus is super exciting but having them here is a great excuse to eat at the best of the best restaurants in Winston Salem. Open up OpenTable and get those reservations made – you don’t want to miss out! But worst-case scenario you don’t get a chance to go to any of these places, you can always rely on these delicious eats to help on a tough day or get rid of the Sunday scaries.

Rooster’s: A Noble Grille

My number one place to eat in all of Winston Salem has to be Roosters. The menu has a wide array of mostly Southern options, a great vibe and very kind service. If you’re going to go, you’d be missing out if you didn’t get the tagliatelle Bolognese.

Ryan’s Restaurant

After having to have the chicken from the Pit for the sixth night in a row, a juicy steak from Ryan’s is a nice change of scenery. The options for side dishes are endless and of course, delicious.

Fratellis Italian Steakhouse

Similar to Ryan’s, Fratellis is a great local steakhouse but has a bit more of an extensive menu. As for my favourites on the menu, the calamari is ridiculously good. Just be careful because once you go once, you won’t be able to resist but to go back.

Mozelle’s Fresh Southern Bistro

A local favourite to most, Mozelle’s combines all aspects of southern comfort with a nice and Instagram-worthy dining experience. While a reservation is probably necessary, it’s definitely worth it.

Umi Japanese Steakhouse and Sushi Lounge

Definitely a dining experience, Umi is the newest and what I believe to be the best hibachi restaurant in Winston Salem. Not only do you get a show with the onion tower, but nearly everything on the menu is wonderful.

FOR A QUICK BITE:

Sometimes, you don’t have the time and/or energy for a nice sit-down dinner so if you’re just looking for a great but quick bite with your parents, try out either of these two.

Cugino Forno Pizzeria

The newest pizza place in town, Cugino Forno serves delicious wood fired Neapolotin pizza in an endearing location. Get there quickly though because they open at 11:00 but close as soon as the dough runs out.

Yamas Mediterranean Street Food

For a quick and unique bite, Yamas is a great up-and-coming place in Winston Salem. Their menu includes extremely fresh Mediterranean cuisine that will have you smiling from ear to ear and in and out without breaking he bank.
