You might not know who Jamell Maurice Demons is, but you probably know who American rapper YNW Melly is. They are, in fact, the same person.
A year before, on March 4, 2017, YNW Melly uploaded the song Murder On My Mind on Soundcloud. The song reached number 14 on US Billboard Hot 100 and number 7 on US Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. However, now, he is behind bars.
But, YNW Melly refuses to forget about his fans. On November 18, 2019, he posted a cover of his upcoming album on his Instagram timeline. The caption read, “#YNWMelly is dropping Melly vs. Melvin from prison on Friday.”
Yes, you read that right. YNW Melly released his album from prison on November 22, 2019. But he isn’t the first one.
Various rappers have also released albums from prison, such as Mac Dre, 2Pac, Lil Wayne, and Gucci Mane.
YNW Melly’s album includes songs such as ‘Bang Bang,’ ‘My Slime,’ and ‘100k,’ as well as 223’s which Melly released on August 9, 2019, with rapper 9lokknine.
YNW Melly has been in prison since February 2019 and faces the death penalty. However, this hasn’t stopped him from dropping this album. It is strange to think someone could release music from behind bars, but YNW Melly is not the first to do so.
