Lulu, the app that allows girls to read and write anonymous reviews of guys, has been creating a lot buzz around Wake Forest. Interesting enough, most of this buzz about the app has been from the male community. I’ve personally heard several guys express concern over their Lulu scores. It appears that the campus Frat Stars are feeling a little insecure about what us collegiettes have to say about them. I decided to interview one (anonymous) to get his opinion on the popular app…
1. Do guys take their Lulu reviews seriously?
“As a guy I somewhat take Lulu seriously. I do want to know what girls are saying about me, of course – whether if it is something positive or negative.”
2. How often do guys check Lulu / do guys actually update their profiles?
“I didn’t know I could update my profile on Lulu, I thought it was just a girl thing to have the app. If I’m with a girl and I see she has Lulu on her phone and I’m on a good friend level with that person… I’ll ask to see my account.”
HEY GUYS: Actually, you don’t need a girl to check your Lulu ratings anymore… Lulu has created an app called “Lulu Dude,” which allows any guy to easily access his ratings on Lulu. Check out more info. here: http://www.businessinsider.com/how-to-find-your-lulu-rating-2013-6
3. Overall, do you find Lulu reviews to be accurate?
“I was told that I give ‘#AmazingCuddles’ on Lulu, so it has to be accurate, right?”
4. Do you think that Lulu is a sexist app?
“I don’t think it’s sexist. I personally think it’s funny. There’s an app for girls to talk about guys and there’s not one for guys to talk about girls. I hate how everything has to be labeled as sexist, or feminist, or some other ‘ist,’ when it’s just the reality of the world we live in.”
5. Do you find the app to be more popular among guys or girls?
“I don’t know how often girls use it, but I know that guys will only check their reviews when they are hanging out with a girl they are good friends with.”
6. Anything else you would like to add?
“My last comment on Lulu – there is something immensely satisfying about going onto Lulu and seeing that a girl has given me a high rating – is a solid ego booster! However, when a girl has given you a poor ranking, it becomes a reality check. Regardless, I think the app is funny and that my hashtags are hilarious: #BurnsCornflakes, #PukedOnMyRug, #MothersLoveHim…”
There you have it, real Lulu talk from our anonymous Mr. Fratty. So whether you’re a collegiette who had an amazing (or awful) dating experience and need to tell the world, or a guy who wants to see what the ladies really think, check out Lulu for yourself!
