The temperature is dropping, fall is finally here, and winter is right around the corner. This means a multitude of things for all you collegiettes out there: 1. Not only are pumpkin spice lattes in full swing at Starbucks but recently they started using their red Holiday cups, 2. It is finally acceptable to begin making a Christmas list while giving thanks for all the food you are going to consume on Thanksgiving, and 3. Love Your Body Week is here!

As many of you may know, this week is Love Your Body Week and Wake has fully embraced this wonderful week of celebrating all body types with a number of great events, which you can check out daily on their Facebook Page! Every body type is beautiful, but sometimes it is hard to dress it to look your best! Take it from a girl whose pants are always too short due to her above-average height and whose athletic build doesn’t always fit into clothes as it should. So I’ve done some research for all of you ladies out there to help you find the perfect styles for your body type!

We’ll start with all of you fabulous collegiettes who are lucky enough to have a little junk in your trunk, providing you with a pear body shape. This just means that your hips are wider than your shoulders and you have a tiny, well-defined waist. You girls will want to emphasize your waist and arms and accentuate your flat stomach and petite shoulders. You can look to celebrities like Kim Kardashian (or any of the Kardashians…) for some tips on how to dress your body! You’ll want to look for wider-legged pants and A-line skirts with boat neck tops, especially with ruffles, and pointy-toed shoes to elongate your legs!

Now let’s talk about all you skinny Minnies out there that take after celebrities like Natalie Portman and Cameron Diaz. You girls are slender, usually with an athletic look, who have no body features to minimize but want to focus on your great long arms and legs! For you ladies, tops with collars are a great call, colorful bottoms are fun and flattering, and layering with long jackets are great for adding more dimensions!

Next we have all of you who accumulate most of your weight above the hips with broader shoulders leaving you with those great legs! The world calls this body shape, “apple” which makes you fabulous and delicious! You take after Drew Barrymore and Queen Latifah. Try to go for monochromatic looks and v-necks to create an illusion of a longer torso. Wear boot cut jeans to balance you out and accentuate the smallest part of your waist with a great belt!

Then we get to all of you women out there that share their body type with the beautiful, confident, inspiring Beyonce. You guys have an hourglass body shape, which means your shoulders and hips are similar in proportion with a tiny waist in the middle of them! You girls need to embrace your curves by wearing form-fitting clothing without going too tight. You will want to wear high-waisted skirts in lightweight fabrics. Also, go with tops that call attention to your waistline and steer clear of spaghetti-strap tanks.

No matter what shape and size you are, embrace it, love it, and work it every day! We are all different and that is what makes women so great and fabulous. Plus, if your clothes haven’t been helping your body shape look its best, now you have a whole new excuse to go shopping! Just because the cold is coming does not mean you have to cover up – take my tips and show off what you got 365 days of the year!
