Is there a difference between fall and summer makeup? You bet there is! Now is the time to break out those dark eyeliners and earthy eyeshadows to spice up your fall wardrobe this season. You might argue that the last thing you want to do is spend 30 long minutes on your makeup after a tiring night in the ZSR. Never fear, collegiettes™, we her at HC have a few quick, simple tips on how to perfect your beauty routine without having to primp for way too long in front of a mirror.
Â
Get a good start!
Â
Apply your foundation as usual; everyone has their own preferences when it comes to a base. Go for a look as natural as possible so you don’t look too Jersey Shore-tan (it’s fall, after all!).
Clean up those problem spots.
Â
For those nasty dark circles under your eyes that we all get from one too many nights chock-full of studying, grab an under-eye concealer that’s a shade lighter than your skin tone. Apply it right where the dark circles are and in the inside corners of your eyes to brighten up those tough spots. These concealers also work great as insta-zit-removers to cover up any blemishes you might find first thing in the morning.

Line it all up.
Â
Pencil on your favorite dark hue of eyeliner to the tops and bottoms of your lids. Navy and charcoal are huge right now and are great neutrals that work with any eyeshadow. But remember: quality is better than quantity on this one! Be careful not to apply eyeliner too thickly, as it’ll focus all of the attention on your eyeliner instead of your face as a whole.Â
Pick one!
Â
Now is the time to make the big decision of the morning: do you play up your eyes or your lips today? The trend for this fall is to either have dramatic eyes or dramatic lips, but definitely not both at the same time! A great time saver, pick either your eyes or lips to focus on.
If you picked eyes:
My favorite things in my makeup bag are the Maybelline ExpertWear Eyeshadow Quads. These give you four different shades of eyeshadow in one place, all of which go together and blend perfectly. The best thing? It’s even marked on the eyeshadow itself which area of your eye to apply each color to! Pick your eyeshadow palette for the day based on your outfit – if you’re going neutral, you can play up a brighter color like purple or green. If you’re wearing brighter colors, either stay in that color family for eyeshadow or pick a more neutral tone, like a light pink. Blend with a small brush for the best results.Â
If you picked lips:
Now is the time to bring out your bright lipsticks. This fall, the bright red lips are super trendy, but if you aren’t feeling as uber bold, opt for a burgundy instead! Pair your hot lips with a simple cream eyeshadow, like Covergirl’s new line of Intense Shadow Blast Eyeshadows. These go on smoothly and give enough shimmer but in light enough colors to pair perfectly with the standout lips. Â

Finish it off!
Â
Now the only thing left to do is curl your eyelashes (yes, this really does work!), and apply a dark mascara to both of your lids to finish off your look. Make sure to get rid of any mascara clumps with an eyelash comb, and apply a touch of blush to the apples of your cheeks to polish off this perfect look for fall.Â
With all of the options out there for fall makeup, simple is oftentimes the easiest way to go. With just a few swipes of the brush or lipstick, you can now make yourself the perfect fall look in no time without having to worry about taking up too much time. After all, we have so much to stress out about as it is, why worry about complicated makeup too?!Â
