Freshman Problems: How to Save Your Chucks

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wake Forest chapter.

Once you join a sorority at Wake Forest, the next step (after meeting everyone in your new pledge class and squealing together because YOU MADE IT!) is to purchase your Chucks. For us freshman girls who just got our bids, buying our first pair of Chucks – deciding between high top or low top, finding the right color for our new sorority – can be exciting. Here are a few helpful tips to keep those Converse looking good as new (or as good as one can look after walking in a frat basement!):

1. Weatherproof them! You can purchase cheap waterproof spray through sites like Amazon, or find it at a shoe store nearby. The spray featured below is only $5.99 from Bass Pro Shops.

2. Have a backup pair of shoelaces! While this might seem silly, shoelaces have a tendency to come undone and get dragged through the muck. Plus, shoelaces are cheap and come in all sorts of fun colors.

3. When it comes to decorating your Chucks, use fabric markers instead of regular Sharpies, as they tend to stay on longer. Try the Stained by Sharpie Fabric Markers below.
