One of the best parts of spring break, in my opinion, is sitting down and reading a page-turner. There’s nothing worse, though than bringing a book on a trip that you think you’ll love and then you end up struggling to finish it. These four books are guaranteed page-turners. You won’t want to put them down and that’s what makes them perfect for vacation.

Something Borrowed – Emily Giffin

This book was written by Wake alum Emily Giffin, and if you’re looking for a romantic, entertaining, funny, and complicated beach read, this is your book. The book is about two best friends, Darcy and Rachel. It centers around the occurrences on the night of Darcy’s 30th birthday that changes their friendship. There is also a movie for the book that is really well done and worth watching, and it stars Kate Hudson as Darcy and Ginnifer Goodwin as Rachel.

The Firm – John Grisham

The Firm is older but it’s a classic crime and mystery book. I don’t want to give too much away, but basically, not all law firms are what they seem. This book is a must-read, and it’s perfect for the beach.

Blame – Jeff Abbott

This book is a complex thriller about a girl, Jane Norton, who is left with amnesia due to a car crash. The crash resulted in the death of Jane’s best friend David who was riding in the car with her, and a note was found with Jane saying “I wish we were dead together.” The book is described online as “The perfect blend of complex characters, plot twists galore, and great psychological suspense.” (from Harlan Coben, https://www.amazon.com/Blame-Jeff-Abbott-ebook/dp/B01I1AIU6G ) I’ve recommended this book to all of my friends and sisters and they’ve agreed it’s one you can’t put down.

Gone Girl – Gillian Flynn

Gone Girl is an intense book that was really popular several years ago, but it’s perfect for a vacation because it’s on the longer side and will last you a good part of your vacation. The book is anything but predictable and definitely on the creepier side but will hook you immediately.
