Forest Fads: The new relationship app, Couple

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wake Forest chapter.

“What do you want to be married to me for anyhow?”“So I can kiss you anytime I want”  – Sweet Home Alabama

The issue with long distance relationships is that you can’t kiss your S.O. anytime you want. In this day and age, you would expect someone to have found a solution to this troubling issue. Collegiettes, I present to you a way you can “kiss” your man even though you may be miles and miles away.

Couple is the new relationship social network for two. It’s like your Facebook app, except only you and your partner can see your activity. This app encompasses many components your Smartphone already has, but it’s compiled all into one. You can chat with your man (in my opinion its even faster than iMessaging), share your location, create a mutual events tab, send voice messages, send pictures, create “sketches”, and send stickers to each other. Other than these standard features, Couple also offers aspects that make it one of the most unique apps right now.

Thumbkiss

This feature is by far my favorite. When you enter Thumbkiss, it detects where both yours and your man’s thumbs are on the screen. You can move your thumbprints around until they lie on top of each other. When your thumbprints match up, the screen turns red and your phone vibrates, indicating that you have just “kissed” (virtually). Weirdly, I must admit, it does make you feel connected in a way, as if you did just kiss. Also it is pretty hilarious.

Live Sketch

Remember the game DrawSomething where you could make colorful drawings on a blank, white page? Live Sketch allows you to create a painting for your S.O. and with your S.O. Once your dual sketch is complete, it will be saved to your “Moments.”

Moments

Every time you send a picture, video, or sketch to your man, it will collect in your Moments folder. This is a nice, personalized photo album containing your special moments. What an easy way to find a good #tbt, right?

When I first heard of Couple, I thought it was a little odd. But after downloading it and playing around with the app, I find it fun yet endearing. You don’t have to be in a long distance relationship to use the app, it’s seriously great for any couple to have. It’s a nice social media space that is uniquely private where you and your man can bond on more levels. If you don’t have a man in your life, convince your best girlfriend to join with you. I mean, who doesn’t love a good Thumbkiss?
